Found this in UserBenchmark while choosing components for my new PC and couldn't find it in the forums.

"Our benchmarks show a 25% increase in effective speed between generations of i3 8350K vs 7350K and near equivalence between the outgoing i5-7600K and the new i3-8350K. Although the price points of Coffee Lake are not yet known, if Intel keep them roughly in line with the previous generations (i3 ~= 119€ ($140)) this will represent the best improvement in value for money since Sandy Bridge as the 8350K at 119€ ($140) would be 34.8% cheaper than a 7600K at 183€ ($215)."

 

I would say that's quite relevant for Budget PC's?

Huh? Coffeelake i3s have 4 cores and 4 threads so they are as relevant as Ryzen 3.

This would be my 2nd time building a PC and I cannot afford a GPU so I believe Ryzen could not be my choice.

 

What would you recommend instead?

If they come at 4.2GHz and/or unlocked, they're more relevant. They also have iGPUs.

Both my i5 build and my A10 build can support at least 2, with restrictions being on the mainboard port selection. And shockingly enough, not everyone is you, thankfully.

No laptop would offer me as much performance for 500 euro, at least not where I live.

I am aiming to use it for Software Development (Visual Studio, etc.) so this is true for me, although for that I could get a really cheap card.

 

Since the integrated one is fine for me though, what's the point on spending more just to have a dedicated one?

 

BTW, does LoL count as relevant when choosing PC components? That's literally the only game I play in my little free time.

Not too surprising, given that the 7350k was on par with a locked i5.

Kind of interesting, kind of not. I've been tempted to buy a 7350k, as some can be had quite cheap. It requires a Z board though, which isn't...thus, the budget aspect doesn't make much sense, even when buying used.

The problem there is that the 7350k as as much as a locked i5. I haven't seen any released at the $140 price point, and even Intel suggests a retailer price of $168 - $179.

You can run multi monitors off of integrated graphics.

what you couldnt is not the case for all dear. 80% office pc here that use mostly Ms Office solely based on single monitor without a graphics card but igpu. but to relevant topic, more or less we dislike the fact that Intel price is higher yet having an Igpu is big bonus.. if a budget pc builder of ryzen somehow face any problem in only graphics & rma it, they will have to get second graphics card in order to use the pc. not all can have the fancy of having keeping second graphics card as back up. & about coffeelake i3 turn out with a good pricing, that will be the best deal. ryzen 3 even 5 will have nightmare to compete with them
