welcome to wifi problems. The more walls and objects the signal has to pass through, the worse it gets. Likely this is what your problem is. You could try seeing if he would setup something like Powerline ethernet adapter or soemthing to test.

two words. shitty connection. You could buy a $1000 wifi receiver, but if you're still on hotel wifi, you're going to get hotel wifi speeds

Yeah, like a repeater or something.  Back when I lived with my parents like ten years ago, we needed to extend the wifi from the house to this... little house/shed thing where my room was.  We used a repeater to get the signal way the fudge in the back yard.  It's why i suggested finding an extender they use on boats.  We used one, worked wonders,  either that or he and every kid on the block is on the connection like you lol

There are multiple factors here, what router are you using?  If you connect to it through Ethernet does it do the same thing? What is your access point? What 802.11 standard does it use?

You say your landlord provides your internet, or pays for it?  If your landlord control the wifi you should ask him about it.  Have you tried a power line adapter?  If so, how does it preform compared to wifi?

If you really want us to help you diagnose your issues then you need to give us a good description of what's happening, tell us your network equipment, and also tell us what you've already tried.

Im sorry i dont really know much about the network. He is on a vacation but i doubt he has a fancy router. i know that its a standard wifi router and the inet bandwith is 30/30mbits.

Im not sure where the router is located, but somewhere in the apartment upstairs, im thinking about getting my own inet. This is driving me crazy.

I'm pretty sure that you can find a wifi range extendor for less than $30. Better still, they plug into a wall socket and can look like a simple white plug or look like a plug with antenna(s) on it. Though I do not know if it helps with ping or not. There are also some wifi extenders which have a ethernet port on them to transmit the wifi signal over ethernet.

It's a huge security vulnerability doing that with a single router.  You should get your own connection, and get a good router that gives you solid speeds.  This will never improve unless you take action and do it yourself.

Your landlord should have a firewall, a high end router for segmentation, and have Ethernet wired to sockets in every apartment. I don't think it's even legal to rent off home internet, with a single router, and not give people full Ethernet access from the apartments.
