*ENTRIES CLOSED* *WINNERS UPDATED* Build a New Gaming Rig with Linus Tech Tips and ASUS ROG - ROG Rig Reboot

CPotter

Here's my old rig, Got it through a grant in a program, here in Canada, the program is about creating a business and I was the first in the program to create gaming into a job/business and they've believed I could take off and take it somewhere, the computer is the basic low end gaming pc that is 1.5-2 years old that I've got from BestBuy. I would love to upgrade this pc to do higher graphic games like lawbreakers, h1z1(which my P.C can barely run) etc.  It can barely do GTA V on the lowest graphic settings :( . To get a new gaming rig means I can expand my gaming to much more the League of Legends, Overwatch, and cs go  and have more to entertain and expand my audience. If I do win, I will be donating my old p.c to someone who is in need of a p.c! Keep on paying it forward! (I've been a gamer since I was 5, and my mother is a  gamer and I've watched her game since I was about 3 years old.) Gaming is my life you can say ;). (Also I would love to travel out side of my province and document my experience!)

So this is what I have to work with currently. It could have definitely been done better, however I've never even bothered trying to edit videos beyond clipping out boring parts before so I did what I could with a single unedited take. Enjoy....if you dare. Lol

EDIT: Realized I didn't exactly specify that the motherboard died and that I didn't give much of a story...this was my final attempt to get this rig going again before the motherboard's death actually, left as is. I've been working on my car so while I could totally go grab a motherboard for this system and try again eventually, I wanted to see what I could do with this...building a rig is nice but getting to go all the way to BC to meet you guys even if the computer build weren't at all a part of the trip would be straight up sweet.

#ROGRigReboot Sorry for going over 60 sec.

My computer is running on Intel Pentium CPU 2020M. I do not know what my graphic card is, but I believe that it is an integrated one. It's about 30% dust and dirt (thanks to living in India for five to six years) and the keys are starting to fall off. I cannot build or purchased one myself as most of my funds are already tied up. I would like to spend time playing games with my little brother when I move out.

I would like a 1080 (TI would be nice) and 16 GB of memory.  Everything else can be talked about later as I'll just be using it for gaming and a little heavy internet surfing and a lot of streaming watching. I'm not all that savvy when it comes to computer hardware. I know the basics but I do not know what would work the best for me.

Sorry about the lack of fancy colors or slides. I do not know how to do any of that stuff. And no face pic sorry if its required let me know and I'll fix that.

PLEASE pick me!!!!! I'll make you massive amounts of bacon!!! Everybody loves bacon!!! #ROGRigReboot

NZXT H630

ASUS M5A99FX PRO 2.0

AMD FX8350

G.Skill Ripjaws 16gb

EVGA GTX970FTW+

Corsiar H100i

WAY more then I need 1000w power supply (it was on sale!)

120gb boot SSD, 5Tbs of HDDs for games and storage

About the only thing that I can play regularly for any length of time is either American Truck Simulator/Euro Truck Simulator 2 and the Play Way games, CMS18 etc because they dont work the PC too hard. I am REALLY into flight sims like Prepar3d, even when my PC was working right though my choice of an AMD FX was not the best one as it does not handle FSX/P3D very well, although I wasnt into it as much at the time. As I said in my video, my son REALLY loves to play Star Wars Battlefront with me, he's too young to play by himself but he loves to sit in my lap while I play. My Wife and I used to switch up and play rounds on my PC. Now that its having issues I cant do that as the CPU gets throttled and the game becomes a slide show. I hate having to tell my son that we cant play his favorite game because my computer isn't working right. Due to a couple of recent household issues we cant really afford to fix it right now. I'm not trying to lay down a sob story in lieu of an actually creative video, (I'm not much of an artist or wizard with the video editing!), I'm just trying to be honest. I hope you'll pick me, I have never won anything like this and it would be really cool.

I know my video is not as creative and funny as other people but its honest, its who I am, I am not a video editor nor a YouTube personality, I'm awkward and dopey but I'm genuine and true to who I am. Hopefully that counts for something!

EDIT: As a bonus selling point, I can almost see Surrey from my front porch! It's just a short ferry ride away.....if I had an EDL or passport that is! LOL But we could set something up in Anacortes if you picked me! Just saying.....no travel costs! LOL

For my entry I decided to play around with some video editing, hopefully isn't too bad ;) I'd be pretty happy to win a new PC, since saving up takes a long time, but I had some fun making the video anyways. I'm all up for criticism, thanks to anyone who even looks at it #ROGRigReboot

I have two systems that I use a laptop and my desktop, both are kind of relevant for this.  Ill give the specs for my desktop and laptop.

Desktop

Q9450 (2.66ghz quadcore)

4gb ddr2 - 800

GTX 950

a mess of hard drives

Laptop

T9550 @ 2.66GHz

4gb ddr3

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670

The desktop can manage games like fallout 4 if i dont run it maxed... or on high... medium sometimes pushes it.  Star citizen on low is unplayable.   The laptop it basically maxes out at playing left for dead 2.  IT cant handle borderlands at all.

The long of it is my friend has had a few rough years lately.  She comes over to play left 4 dead 2 to basically destress and try and forget some of the crap she has had to deal with over the past few years.  Unfortunately my gaming hardware is starting to get long in the tooth even on my desktop (seriously its pushing over 9 years old at this point).  The laptop which I have to use when she comes over... is pretty much unplayable for any game lately.  I want a new system so we can game together.  Heck Id give her the new system if I won.  She knows how to play games, but system building is a bit beyond her, as for me I just cant afford the spare cash to do it having gotten divorced this year.  0/10 would not recommend for anyone.

I was a little kid back in 2006 with two older brothers who also loved to game. They got me into gaming with our first ever computer that they bought from HP. Back in the days, all we ever played was Warcraft 3 and we would take turns playing a game each. Because I was the youngest, I always played 1 game while they played 2-3 games. Soon after they started working, they built their own PC or bought a laptop and gave me this PC as a hand-me-down. I never worked as I was always focusing on school and extra-curricular after school and never had the money to buy or upgrade. This PC has been my ride-or-die since I was an adolescent. Thankfully, it held up it's weight for past a decade because of the types of games I play but with new games coming out requiring more demanding PC's and university friends who don't play the shitty games I do, it's time for an upgrade. I don't think anybody "deserves" to win this free gaming PC upgrade but I would sure as hell be honored and grateful if I was chosen. This rig just isn't cutting it anymore! Make my dreams come true Team LTT! Thank you very much for even giving everyone in North America the opportunity to enter this contest. Yours truly, a hopeful subscriber

FREEEEESTYLEEEEEE Lyrics
Starting back in 2006,
The standard was 800 by 600 pix.
That's when I built my first PC,
With my processor of 2GHz
Whatever that means

From BestBuy I spent my savings,
2GB of RAM, fulfilled my PC-nerd cravings.
Needing 1GB for games, I thought I splurged.
Soon realized that multitasking problems emerged.

I couldn't afford an upgrade for some time,
As my wallet reflected of nickels and dimes.
Fortunately all I played was Warcraft 3,
Stored in my shitty 128GB HDD (upgraded now to 1TB)

Now the eSports games have come out,
My geforce 650 makes me pout (geforce 750 now, upgraded).
Don't get me started on games that are triple A,
The only triple A I can run are the batteries okay?
Unable to play GTA 5,
I can only wish of running the HTC vive.
Thankfully stable Minecraft at 15 FPS,
I hope in the future, I can play CS.

Can't even upgrade with new parts bought,
It wont boot, lack of power, Thanks 300Watt
Unable to use it, a tear formed
Linus Tech Tips kept me well informed.
To enter this contest, lyrics conformed,
Hopefully this contest helps my PC transform!
