13.8 volts to 12 volt device

Da OG Fish

I have a Traxxas DC to AC adapter that puts out 13.8 volts and 3.5 amps. I want to use this to power a mini fridge that requires 12 volts of power. Will this harm it? Thanks in advance.

That cooler shouldn't have a problem as it's probably got built in regulating circuity since it was designed for vehicle use where voltages can fluctuate fairly large amounts.

A car's electric system is usually at 13.5V when is running,  it's going to work fine.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

Voltage wise you fine, just make sure the fridge doesn't draw more than 3.5 amps.

First thing is first - It is an AC to DC adapter, BIG difference.

Secondly you'd have to look at the electrical plate on the device to see if 3.5A is enough.

It is good for 9-14V as the Lead Acid batteries are that range.

This one states 5A

So 12V times 5A is 60W, should be a very cheap AC-DC product on fleabay.
