Mixed Messages and Mixed Metals from EKWB Fluid Gaming Series?

Last week I reported my communications with EKWB with regards to using D5's and DDC's in their aluminium series, since stainless steel may corrode the aluminium (see more on this below). To which their response was: Don't do it, they are looking into producing D5 equivalents in aluminium.

I had an interesting discussion with people on another thread, and @Yapi pointed out that the above message is strange since the CPU block has a stainless steel jetplate. I was initially skeptical about this, and contacted EKWB again. Although I had my doubts @Yapi was indeed absolutely correct, the jetplate for the Supremacy AX is made of stainless steel.

However, @Yapi was also quick to point out that if the surface area of steel is small compared to the aluminium, there is a reduced risk of corrosion. And EKWB as well has assured me, that there is no compatibility problems.

This does however then raise the question, why isnt the D5 and DDC okay to use? How much stainless steel is too much stainless steel, is EKWB playing with fire here? Apparently their GPU jetplates are made of aluminium, so it seems strange to me that they would use stainless steel for the CPU jetplate.

Lastly before people start firing comments, please treat my post as a preview EK will announce an official statement about these things in the future hopefully. @EK Luc

All the jetplates from my understanding are stainless but as for galvanic corrosion as you and EK has mentioned the amount is too small to cause an issue really since the stainless would be cathodic.  As for how much is too much that is hard to say as different loop environments can change that in small amount.

but I find it strange that went out of their way to make the aluminium jetplate for the gpu. so....yeah... why not for the CPU too?

Not sure really, if they have a process for making jetplates using thin aluminum stock all it would really need is to rinse and repeat. All in all though the amount is not enough to really cause a problem just odd now that you mention it.

if I had to guess.... the gpu dies and jet plates are much larger/thicker than the cpu one, and the specific strength of aluminium is pretty terrible. And their current cpu gen jet plates are something like .1mm thick IIRC.
