FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET NEW TUBING TO REPLACE THAT YELLOWED SHIT. Either than that I wouldn't upgrade unless you do some heavy rendering work, because that is still a very powerful system, Try to find a used X79 board

I agree with @nerdslayer1, if you can sell all of that for close to what you bought it for, then you should get working on a new build. I would recomend going for the Ryzen lineup rather than Intel's Core lineup. The trend these days is going towards more cores rather than fewer, faster cores. A Ryzen build will give you better performance in most things now, and surely more things down the road.

nope, i5s are not worth it anymore, ryzen 1600 would be better, but for pure gaming 7700k is the best.

yeah but if you cant afford a 7700k  7600k makes a better alternative for hi refresh 1080p Gaming

while in caseof 1440p or 4k gaming ryzen will be better alternative

no it doesn't, i5s are dead now 1600 can do a better job for a cheaper price at 1080p, 1440p and 4k, 4c/4t can only go so far.

Nope, the i7 7700 with a B250 board is a better option than a 7600K with a Z270 board for 1080p high refresh rate and the i5 also has crap 1% and 0.1% lows, so gameplay isn't very smooth (compared to an i7/Ryzen)

Yeah, I would recommend an i7 7800X or 7820X if you can afford it. If you want a cheaper CPU that offers similar performance, get a Ryzen 7 1700(X)

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K | Motherboard: AsRock X99 Extreme4 | Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws4 2133MHz | Storage: 1 x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB | 1 x WD Green 2TB | 1 x WD Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM750x | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (White) | Cooling: Arctic Freezer i32

But will it stay that way? I think the tide is turning towards more threads rather than higher frequency. A few years ago getting an i7 for gaming was kind of silly because games didn't use really utilize more than four threads. An i7 is much better now.

Maybe I'm just excited about AMD having a CPU worthwhile for the first time in forever, but it seems to me like Ryzen is a better bet for the future. Obviously there is no way to know for sure, but it's not being used to its full potential right now.

Make sure to quote or tag me (@JoostinOnline) or I won't see your response!

Yeah, games can use up to 8 threads, but single core performance is still very important, this is why an X99 i7 is 5 or so % slower than a 7700K in games. :D

but that is at a point where that 5% is above the kind of framerate you'd care about anyways.

Just saying that yes intel i7-7700k is better at gaming especially high refresh rates but remember not all people wants to build that kind of thing (well, except for experiencd ones or rich ones?)

so at the moment yes Ryzen is just perfect for almost anything
