OnePlus5 vs S8?

So I have been in the market of a phone upgrade and I have been researching a ton and I still am pretty undecided. Before people start swing the S8 is woo bucks more expensive sword you can get one unlocked for 600 bucks so that only puts it 70 bucks more than the top 1plus5. The water resistance and the OIS and the display is dragging me towards the s8 but the smooth OS and wicked fast speeds of the 1plus5 is pulling me towards it. Any word on this. How is ROM support for the S8 atm. Thanks ahead of time

I'd go Samsung. I never found my Note5 to be overly slow (mind you I use Nova Launcher), and I imagine the S8 is only better.

Do you use the camera a lot? The S8 smashes the OnePlus in terms of quality, especially when it comes to video.

The S8 also has expandable storage.

The S8 has a narrower screen though, so if you like wider screens the OnePlus might be better, or shell out the coin for the larger S8 Plus.

I find the LG G6 to be a rather good looking phone as well, its just that last year's chipset is kind of a drag for a phone that expensive, although you do get some more features.

I had a one plus one... and then got a one plus three, thinking they would have fixed things. 

Regular reformats, random battery drains within an hour, overheating warnings, unavailable accessories (and $65 CAD for a Dash charger/cable... JEBUS!) 

Non existent support. "Mail us your phone, it'll be wiped, it'll take 4-6 weeks, and you're also out of a phone while this happens" and a lack of any sort of after market options... 

I'm not a hipster - My next phone will be so mainstream millennial city lumberjacks will scoff at me from miles away.

If you're talking about the Galaxy S8 Duos unit, from ebay that comes without warrenty so yeah.

Rom support with the S8 is pretty dead Nothing big yet. and I doubt to see anything big

Yeah i was wondering about the g6 but some reports are popping up about bootlooping so I decided to stay clear. Even if it's a couple phones out of a whole batch.

That's a bummer to hear about the ROM support. Yeah I'm not worried with warranty all that much with as much hassle as it is to use your warranty.

I mean yeah  the S8 is a solid device, other than the FP placement.

The Screen touch rejection has improved vastly from the S7E and the S8, and its a great all around device.

The UI on the other hand still isn't as smooth as Stock, or OxygenOS on the op5 though.

To be fair, you'd have the exact same warranty experience with most other companies.

Yeah. Although I think whatever I do get will seem smooth as butter compared to what I have been using. Never have I owned a single flagship always sub 100 dollar phones for me.

I would definitely go for it then. Its a great phone, and the display is to die for

My wife had an S5... it had issues. We went to Telus, they gave her a loanert S5 while her S5 was repaired (aka replaced) 3 weeks later, she was back with her old "new" phone. It was a great experience. It required me to do nothing.

Thats the service provider, not the phone manufacturer. If you went to a Samsung store I doubt you'd get the same treatment.

1+5 if you just want the faster and cheaper phone but if you need it to be waterproof or like the screen of the S8 then its a harder decision...

But I can't get a OnePlus from a service provider... So I won't get a OnePlus again.

I'm on a G6 right now (Asian version, 64gb storage, 4gb RAM, HiFi Quad DAC) and have experienced zero issue with it. LG has given 2 year warranty on the G6 here, so I'm pleased as punch.
