hyper 212 evo and i7 7700?

I bought an i7 7700 and dont plan on overclocking. should i use the stock cooler or buy a hyper 212 evo? also, is buying a more expensive air cooler worth it?

Depends if worried about noise, if you dont care that much dont worry. If you do, the Cryorig H7 would be worth looking at as its about the same price and performs slightly better.

i7 7700 comes with a stock cooler you know? It is a 65w TDP processor, it doesn't get hot.

I was aware that it came with a stock cooler. I am just concerned about thermals.

It will be a little warmer, but will be fine unless on constant load.

Mine never got hotter than 64Cº using stock cooler on the Brazilian summer, you can save yourself the money and trouble... unless the slightly higher noise it makes really annoys you.

Yeah it should be fine.  I actually used a stock cooler + my own 60mm fan and it worked beautifully on a 6700k

Wow, that's impressive. I'm glad i don't have to spend the extra money on a new cooler, because i also want to pick up some new Logitech speakers

Yeah you can pretty much take the cheapest board you can find for it, stock cooler and invest the money to get the locked i7 and have really great preforming computer, makes much more sense than spend all the money on motherboards and expensive water coolers to overclock an i5 and finish spending more to get actually worse performance lol.

I use a stock cooler fine on my 84W Xeon E3-1231v3 (same thing as an i7-4770 minus the igpu and marketed as a low-end server cpu instead of a high-end consumer cpu). It was fine even a couple of summers ago when my AC was out for a couple of days during 100 degree weather.
