Ryzen Video Workstation

Planning to build a Ryzen 5 1600 video editing workstation system for a friend of mine. I got a few questions, I'd be pleased if you could help me out a little.


It's my first time going to AMD territory, is there anything special I have to do or look for over building an Intel system?

Also should I buy a video card for video editing in Adobe Premiere? If yes, what's the lowest I could go? Does the R5 1600 even have an igpu? Do any of the Ryzen CPUs have an igpu? o.O

Ryzen has no iGpu

try to get ram around 3000mhz that is supported in the Qvl for ryzen

You should be careful when shopping for memory, try to buy a ryzen validated kit. Make sure to have the most recent bios available. No iGPU for ryzen so far, we are waiting for the APU lineup.

nope, they are like x99 platform

1. RAM. Ryzen mobos are picky on the RAM, so make sure you pick one that's listed as "compatible"

2. RAM (again). Ryzen loves high frequency RAM.

3. No Ryzen chips available now has igpu. A dedicated graphics card is required no matter what.

4. The mid end cards are overpriced due to miners, so it will be either 1050ti or RX 560 for new cards. Dive into the used market and 970, 750ti, r9 285, something around that level are fine.
