i5-4670 + gtx 1030

xNavio

Hi! I got the Fujitsu Esprimo P520 Desktop. Spec: i5-4670 3.4ghz Turbo 3,8ghz , 2x4GB ram ddr3 1333mhz, mother board is Fujitsu D3220-A1 with B85 chipset, 500gb storage segate barracuda 7,2k RPM, the PSU is Fujitsu 260W (i don't know aobut the name of this psu or serial number). The question is, can i buy the nvidia gt 1030 without any upgrade, and If the power supply is not enough what could be the symptoms? (I apologize for spelling errors , my englando is very bad and google translator is not helping :D )

don't buy the 1030.  Cheap GPUs are total garbage and waste of money.  You are better off to buy a used GPU like an old GTX 770 or similar.

If your PSU is under power, the system will do weird things and not work properly or not work at all.

Good luck trying to run the 770 with a 260w power supply haha.

Is your case a small form factor case (by that I mean is it very thin, or is it a normal sized case). Answering your question yes you can get a gt 1030 and put it in without any problem. I had a similar build previously with a gtx 750 ti and core 2 quad and that ran on a 240w power supply. If you have the money however I would recommend something like an rx 460 or gtx 1050. Make sure that if you are getting one of these cards that the one you are getting won't require a 6 pin connector.

A GT 1030 won't be that much better than the iGPU on the i5. Just get a CX450M for a PSU, along with a 1050 Ti.

A gtx 1050 would be great in your case (pun intended). Almost all of them will run without any problems on your power supply.

Then get a 24 to 16 pin adapter.

i can try with gtx 1050 but i'am a bit scared cause i don;t want to destroy my psu or something else. I see on random site power supply of gtx 750ti and its been like 140W i think this will destroy my psu :/ (english is soo hard :P)

A gtx 1050 will have very similar power consumption to a gt 1030 since both only take power from the pcie slot.

I thought that tdp doesn't indicate power consumption but its a measure of how much heat the cards produce?

With a high end test bench rocking an overclocked i7 the cards only managed about 140w peak power consumption. So you should be fine. Source :

you sure its a platform power not only a graphic card? and 1 more thing this guy have good cooling in this test bench, soo what will happend when temperature will go up and needed power go over ? will my PC survive?

yes it is of the platform since the graph says ''system power consumption. Well the gtx 1050s themselves stay pretty cool. My old gtx 750 ti was in a very very small case (smalelr than yours) and its load temperature was only like 75 degrees so you should be fine.

but wait the second this guy said this CPU will not running on 100% performance, gtx 1050 was a bottleneck soo CPU will not go with all power consumption. what happend if my i5 got 100% use and gpu too ? it can go over from 140watts to more than 260 ??

Don't worry your cpu even at load will definitely use less power than an overclocked i7 6950x (a 10 core 20 threaded cpu)
