I have $240 Canadian to spend on a CPU+Motherboard(+ram maybe) What I'll be doing is gaming at 1440x1050 (for some games not that but very close) for now but I have a GTX 770 2gb edition with me the most demanding game I will be playing is GTA V sometimes and I'm picky about my motherboards I only want ones with 4 dim slots for future upgradablity since I will be editing and gaming I don't care much about the brands I just need it to get the job done since I'm coming from a $500 laptop and I would prefer if I could go new since then I can get tracking for it and what I also have on hand is

• 8gb DDR3 
• Zalman Z1 Neo
• EVGA 450BV
• Old Acer PC (CPU has dead IMC and AM3)

Im also in need of a mic stand and at least a 5v sound card (maybe a audio interface xlr cable needed for it) but in a hour I will be buying the stuff (excluding the audio stuff I don't need it right away but would like it soon)

I don't think there's many modern CPUs that support DDR3. You may want to buy used, or save more, or else get a G4560 + cheap mobo + 8GB DDR4 RAM.

Goody! the G4560 is the best budget CPU right now. I think there may be some mobos that support DDR3, but that kind of nukes future upgrades.

Then I'd go for that, as you can always get another 8GB RAM and a used i5 for a decent price later.

. Can you save for a bit? Or just get the cheapest quad core AM3 CPU so your PC will work for now, then save for a R5 1400 + RAM + b350 mobo.

$80 for a new AM3 CPU? And stink you're in Canada. I've got an old Phenom processor that I've never used, since the mobo I have for it needs some capacitors replaced. Though I don't remember if it's AM2 or AM3.

Ok. And I understand the saving part. I'm trying to build a high end 1440p machine, but I'm going to have to build it up one component at a time. At least I make decent money, so it shouldn't take too long. Though I just turned 18, so now I've gotta pay rent and insurance and get a car and all that stuff.

Yeah. It's down to the classic how many compromises you can get away with situtation. Does your mobo support a Phenom CPU? 

Like the one on here? I could test it to see if it works and send it to you (IDK how to without bending the pins though. I already bent them slightly trying to get it unstuck from the cooler, but I bent them back so they go in with a firm click).

I know but its really good for prices but coming from a i3-5020u and a Igpu its a huge upgrade with a 770

It's an old Phenom, but it's socket AM2. I'll double check the number when I get home, but from the grainy pic it looks like this: hd9500wcj4bgd. From a quick Google, looks like a 2.2GHz quad core. Probs a terrible one, but good enough to last you till you have enough for Ryzen. Though what socket is your mobo?
