Best Budget GPU for Live Streaming

Taily96

Hi,

I already have a pretty basic setup. I have a AMD Athelon x4 860K and an R7 360 2GB graphics card. I was looking for a new GPU to be able to stream. Any suggestions??

Yep. Just yep. I'd go with a full rig overhaul. Your CPU is vital for streaming performance. I would recommend something with more cores, maybe one of the new Ryzen things. Your GPU also needs an upgrade, depending on what games you're streaming. What games are you looking at streaming?

Everything I know I learned from the internet. Also school.

Current Desktop:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 @3.65 ghz, Cryorig H7

MoBo: Asus Prime X470-Pro

GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super OC

RAM: 2x8 gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @2666mhz

PSU: 650W EVGA SuperNova

Storage: 120gb SK Hynix SSD, 240gb SanDisk SSD Plus, 1 TB 2015 WD Blue

Case: Corsair Carbide 100R

Peripherals: Logitech G Pro keyboard, Razer DeathAdder Elite, Logitech G305, Logitech G600, 24" AOC FreeSync 1080p monitor x2

If you do streaming with software encoding (x264), than the CPU has to be upgraded. Best for you would be the Ryzen 5 1600.

Nvidia NVENC can use GPU to encode the stream, instead of the using the CPU.

Its the only way I know of.

So a 1060 should be fine.

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

I have Athlon X4 860K, i have OC'd my chip from 3.7 stock to 4.35 and have no issues with streaming GTA V, i understand more newer games will struggle but to say that it doesnt like streaming is just a bad blanket statement. i am running with 8gb ddr3 1600 (oc'd to 1960) and a HD 7770 2gb and i have no issues whatsoever with running the game at 1080p and streaming at 720p,

I understand that the chip is older and the system has no upgrade path as the socket type is pretty much dead but FM2 socket still has some life left in it as not everyone can afford to run out and buy the latest and greatest of things. hell my rig has cost me £400 in total and i have problems every now and then but this is one of the best systems i have used in a long time.

What is your budget?

65 RX 560

80 GTX 1050

110 -140 1050 ti

Or get a second hand GTX 970, 980, 960, 770 or RX 380/390/280/290

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Because Overwatch is a more modern game, you probably need a 1050ti or AMD equivalent (I believe that's a 570) in terms of graphics card at the least. I'd recommend going for higher VRAM models. More CPU cores will also help, as will a slight RAM upgrade. You want to stream at 1080p high settings, right? As has been said above, a Ryzen 5 1600 is likely the best modern CPU for your needs, although you could make do with a 1400 or 1500X. An older CPU would be able to stream some things, but certainly not Overwatch at 1080p high. Believe me, I've tried. With my personal rig (which is pretty much the same as yours, but with a better GPU) I can stream Overwatch at 720p high reliably, but at 1080p I need to drop a lot of settings.

EDIT: Your CPU is actually better than I thought. My mistake. I still recommend that you upgrade in order to have a higher core count.

I would try and get a second hand GTX 980 if you can swing it.

I was looking at getting a new ryzen chip, was thinking of passing on my older parts to my 13 year old nephew who is wanting his first gaming pc.

YES.  Get a 1600 + B350 mobo and pair it with any of the  GPU's I listed
