What RAM Speed Do I Need?

Hi, I was wondering for gaming what Speed of Ram is best?

Also what is the difference between going for 2 sticks or 4 sticks?

Thanks! :)

Dual vs Quad matters little except in very rare cases.

Faster is better once you have more than enough RAM. 16GB at 3000MHz seems to be the best price point to buy.

Edit: Getting two sticks means they were tested together for dual-channel (though there is still a chance of failure) and four in a set means they were tested for quad-channel.

If you expect to need more than your initial amount, go for 2 sticks of whatever density you think you'll need so that you can buy more later on.

Do you think 32GB is good a good idea if I'm not planning to upgrade for a long time?

Also for games if I had 32gb @2133 mhz or 32gb @3000 mhz would I notice any difference?

I'd say get 16GB of 3200MHz if you're just gaming and watching videos on Youtube.

If your programs use 10GB:

You'll notice slowdown and paging with 8GB of available RAM.

You'll notice no slowdowns with 16GB of RAM.

You'll notice no benefit to having 32GB of RAM simply because the system isn't using it.

You'll notice no slowdowns with 16GB of RAM and you'll receive faster frame-rates or smoother frame-rates with faster RAM.

TL:DR Buy what you'll need and then spend the rest of the budget for speed.

What will you be using the PC for?

My PC is like 100% gaming, web browsing, small tasks. no editing or anything crazy. I have 16 gb currently, when I have everything I normally have open and games I often play my ram usage is up to 13gb sometimes. That's why I was thinking maybe 32gb would be better.
