GALAX 1080 Ti HOF Limited Edition vs EVGA Kingpin 1080 Ti

Haeking

Was wondering which do you think is worth the bang for your buck the evga kingpin is clocked at 2ghz base clock, has the possibility to be water cooled, while even the galax is base clocked at  1645/ boost is 1759

King pin isnt all flashy but sure kicks ass in speed, plus customization, was thinking of picking one up when it comes out in July

Any Thoughts?

HoF is neck-to-neck with the Kingpin in world class overclock ranking as on previous GPUs. That's about similar performance for $300 less than a Kingpin but if you have the extra money to throw, I'd get the kingpin for sure.

Bang for buck/price to performance do not apply for these cards, at all.

The K|NGP|N card is probably faster though. Better 3rd party OC support and in general KPEs are faster than HOFs running at either the same clock or slightly lower. Most Classified or KPE cards hold the OC records i think. Since most of the time those cards are actually available.

KPE being the faster card at a lower clock: My 980 KPE vs a 980 HOF in GPUPI (1684MHz vs 1700MHz)

I do have the money, was just thinking about it though, the temps on a kingpin are going to run high out of the box with the more load on it. While the HoF will be a little more cooler even with an oc, I feel like the kingpin though since you can water cool will be much better

So not worth is what you're saying, any gpu recommendations under the 1080 Ti model

Yeah not really worth it for the typical consumer. Especially with Pascal since most good cards can breech 2100MHz+ on water easily enough.

ROG Strix doesn't look too bad. Reference card and waterblock isn't bad at all either.

The FTW 3 is also available if you want EVGA + triple fan madness.

Hmm I want your personal opinion on the card if you were to buy a 1080 ti right now

FE + waterblock. OCs well, ready to go for single slot (kinda cool imo).

The few of Mhz (or few tens of Mhz) that the Kingpin can achieve over the HOF is absolutely not worth the extra money (someone said $300? holy fuck)

That's like what? $300 for a few extra frames?

For the 1080Ti, just buy the one with decent cooler and OC it to 2.1 Ghz and you're set. They're all the same

CPU: Ryzen 2 2700@ 4.0Ghz    Mobo: Gigabyte X470 Gaming 7 Wifi    Cooler: EVGA CLC 240    GPU: GTX1080 FTW DT @ 2113Mhz   PSU: EVGA 750W P2

If you're going for a water-block, why not just get the FTW version since you can OC it up to close to kingpin-level unless of course, you want more. Kingpin is good on air too since it's prebinned to perform better than the rest. But if you're going for just air cooling, HoF for similar performance and way cheaper than Kingpin.

I know this is an old topic, but considering that both cards are out now, on the 1080ti level, the galax card is better than the kingpin this time. Just check pcb reviews and actual clocks results.
