R7 hype.

I have not seen a single post on this forum advising against an i7 Unless:

- An R5 would allow a better GPU for their budget

- They also do some kind of workstation/content creation making the 1600/1700 a more well rounded purchase for all their needs.

Holy shit yes

This is the golden comment to solve the thread.

In most cases, the 7700(K) is better than Ryzen in gaming today, although the day-one benchmarks the OP posted show Ryzen as disproportionally behind.

However, since Ryzen offers nearly-identical performance as a lower price, it's almost always worth it to buy a Ryzen, and get a better GPU. Tech Dudes like Ryzen because it allows for more of a build budget to be spent on a GPU. If someone wants to game at 144Hz, I'm confident that no experienced forum user would recommend anything other than a 7700K

also, a Ryzen 1600 is basically the same as a 1700 for gaming, since games don't use 8c/16t anyway.

Getting tired of people overhyping the Ryzen's.

The latest i7 is still better for most games out today. Ryzen might be good for all-round systems but I think the i7 7700k is still better for gaming nowadays.

I do think it's nice that there is a bit of competition but I am tired of the people saying: "Ryzen crushed the i7" etc.

I agree i7 is still faster than r7 in gaming, but I think what myself and everyone can agree is that the r5 1600 is just SO much better than i5, like it pretty much made i5 obsolete for new builders.

Also, I am pretty sure Intel is responding pretty "well" with the whole x299 skylake x fiasco...

The point is not pure performance, it is that Ryzen delivers nearly the same performance, costing half as much as their Intel equivalents.

and does people only play games on their system?

And why you not even addressing that game performance on 7700k is even better than 6990k which is the superior class?

why even releasing the expensive processors to get less performance?

starting by the fact that the i7 7700k is THE gaming cpu, Your  point is somewhat invalid:

-you are looking at day one bench, with slow ram, things have improved A LOT since then ( rise of the tomb raider I'm looking at you)

-if your point is good for the i7, for the i5 vs r5 there is no story, the r5 is a better buy in any sense, even gaming , you can have 5% better averages with the i5, but the r5 has 50% better minimums, not talking about content creation and such

-95% of people run on less than 100hz screen, and at that point ryzen IS better, even that an i7, due to better minimums

-the r7 will have a way longer life

you look really like and intel fanboy

Where can you see it's day one benchmarks?

I am only talking about the i7 because people are saying it's obsolete.

Why does hz matter?

I agree that r7 will have a longer life but most people replace their cpu after ~5 years anyway.

The 6900K is vastly superior to the 7700K in every way, any claims otherwise is falsified or cherry picked mainstream CPU fanboy nonsense!

don't consider new i7s and i5s because Ryzen beat then bad. The only Kaby lake chip worth considering is Pentium G4560. An i7 7700k should be replaced by an Ryzen 5 1600.

No, this thread breaks the forum rules. It's outlined specifically in the Community Standards.

Quote
  • No harassment, discrimination or abuse of any kind.
    • This includes insults, fanboy, or troll accusations
  • No Trolling
    • This includes flame wars such as NVIDIA vs AMD, political or religious debate.

I put the parts that pertain to this thread in bold. Creating an Intel vs AMD thread to specifically bash one of the companies is against the rules.

Edited by KuJoe
Added the rules.
