rx 560 4gb or gtx 1050

BenasBr

Gtx 1050 is better in dx 11 but rx 560 is better in dx12 does this even matter? Cause only new games will be dx 12 and rx 560 wont run them anyway. Which one would you get?

rx560 is better but it will depend on what game you play, how much do you want to spend? get a used 970, if you can spend a bit more.

The graph is on DOOM. As far as I know all amd gpus run better on doom vulkan. And nobody is selling 970 for that price here ;(

Looks like they're about on par with each other with the usual difference between DX11/older titles and DX12/newer titles. I would get the 560 personally because it's more fun to overclock (can hit 1450MHz with it). But that's me, you may not care about overclocking at all.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

this should be better, it will depend on what games you play overall, AMD GPUs are better in DX 12 and Vulcan.

I'd be scared to overclock. I know something would go wrong.

Nah.

The worst thing you can do to it is that it crashes and you have to restart.

You can't kill your GPU by overclocking it with the conventional means (which is to say, just using WattMan or Afterburner or some other software). These days GPUs and their driver software have a lot of fail safe measures built in. OC away :)

Ok If I overclocked rx 560 would it outperform gtx 1050 on dx 11?

not exactly, it benefits cards that have good Vulcan support. i know Doom is a bit of an unfair comparison for now, overall the rx560 seems like a good card, with a good overclock.

only AMD cards have good Vulcan and DX12 support, and while this is a good thing to have, it's not something that will be used in all games, and most games will actually just use DX11, so for now, it's a better comparison to use a DX11 game that doesn't have any Nvidia or AMD sponsorship/help/gimping.

On some games the difference is quite steep, but generally from the graphs I infer that where the 560 wins, it wins by more than the 1050 (but the 1050 wins in more games, at least out of Gamersnexus' testing suite). On the Gamersnexus review you can actually see how an overclocked 560 will perform.

http://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/2908-sapphire-rx-560-pulse-oc-review-vs-gtx-1050/page-4

In general, once overclocked the 560 holds its own in bad ground and dominates in stuff like DOOM.

Hell no.

It's a better comparison to use as many games as your time allows. Just using one or another will give you as inaccurate a reading regardless of whether it's DOOM or Mass Effect: Andromeda. I get that it would be ideal to find a game that very much didn't benefit any side but unfortunately that won't happen. Different code will execute differently on hardware and will inherently benefit one or another architecture more than the other. This is why I like to link a review with many games and not just one or just a 3DMark score.

Yes,

I was just saying that if you were to only use one, you should use a nonbiased game.

Ideally, you would always test as many games as possible and average the scores out.
