can i move my second gpu to another slot for airflow?

1832vin

currently, my motherboard manual recommends me to have it populate the first and the third slot, which is currently choking my first GPU, the main one, by alot, my temps for my Gpu under stress is 94 degrees and 74 degrees, which is too much of a difference that i can bear, 94 is not a good sign.....

could i move my second GPU to the last slot? would it even work? i'm running windows OEM, so would that break the OS?

Wont break the OS, the GPU just may not run at full speed depending on the size and type of the slot. What is the name of your motherboard?

MSI X99A SLI motherboard,

Should at least run in 8x there, not a problem.

if it doesn't will it damage any components?

because i'll be honest, i'll only ever use the second GPU when in rendering, which doesn't need super fast bandwidth, and i rarely game

Nope, just run at a lower speed, x4 (SLI needs 8x to work). Not that that is an issue, should have enough bandwidth.
