Best cpu for gaming AND streaming?

You can get an i7 and stream using nvenc or quicksync, or you can get a ryzen CPU and stream with software encoding.

Up to you.

If the absolute maximum you can pull off is 300 pounds, then the R5 1600 would likely be your best bet.

If you can push, I'd try for an R7 1700 or an i7-7700.

I'd say Ryzen 7 1700, but the i7 7700 would also be good, put an extra 30 pounds and get the K version to overclock, but you'd also need a Z170 or Z270 board, and the cheapest of those that are good are still more than would be comfortable to recommend,

In terms of mininums and percentile fps (which you should only REALLY consider for gaming) the ryzen 5 much better than an i5 at cpu intensive games. i7 will outperform though but it will cost more especially if you plan to overclock

I would honestly get r7 1700

Absolute best? 6900k :P 

 

Within your budget, 1700 is the best. If you want to save a bit of money you could get a 1600 instead tho.

Quick sync is kinda garbage :P. NVENC is ok though, though I'd say h.264 is a bit better.

From the tests linus did quicksync and nvenc both looked similar, definitely good enough for streaming.

A lot of pro streamers use those two and their streams look fine, a lot of people think that you need to use software encoding or it looks bad, but tbh that doesn't really matter and most people don't notice. A lot of other things in streaming are more important than a few pixels that look better.

The AMD alternative of nvenc was horrible though, definitely don't use that xD

I saw quicksync blocking a lot, if you raised bitrate though it might end up ok.

 

NVENC is ok though. The amd thing though... yeah... absolute garbage xD

Get a Ryzen 5 1500x, it's cheap, as fast as a i7-4790k in gaming + streaming, and is overclockable.

Agree, I think there's no competitor for that at the moment
