Mah 8350 us overheating...I guess.

Hello guys.

As the title says, I installed my brand new 8350, it is overheating. No I didn't OC, and No I didn't put too much thermal compound. I can't figure out what the reason could be. My FX-4170 was running at 62-64 degrees max. BTW, these temps occur when playing games like BF3 for 15 min.

Thank you. :P

pretty impossible. It doesnt overheat (to the level that it throttles or shuts down) with the stock cooler, which is pretty shitty.

-,- I did forget to mention the temps :D 79 degrees. I did mount it correctly. And after I thought that I had applied a bit more TIM than I should have, I re-applied it.

BTW, just to mention that now I'm getting 77 Degrees. I had 79 before I re-applied the TIM.

dear lord you're damaging the hell out of that chip, shut off 3 of the 4 modules and underclock it until you have it running at non-lethal temperatures.

Is your h60 even plugged in? Make sure the pump is working because you've done something wrong or something is clearly wrong with that h60. Not even stock cooler gets it that hot.

Must be a bad mount, re-seat it

Well, my AI suite is showing around 4300 RPM, which I guess is the pump. And 1427 on the CPU fan which is the one attached to the rad.  I made sure to tighten the screws well. IDK what the problem could be. :/ And when you said that I am damaging the hell out of the CPU, does that mean that the CPU could be potentially damaged right now ?

If you're absolutely sure that the mounting is done properly return or RMA that h60, because those temps are wayy off. Ideal temperature for an 8350 is <75c for a short amount of time and <65c sustained, <55c is ideal.

It might not be damaged yet, but working it at that temperature is certainly going to hasten degradation.

Yeah, but I was getting 62-64 degrees with the FX-4170. So I guess the problem is not in the cooler. I could have overtightened it. Could that be a a problem ? What could I do to fix it ?

Alright guys. Just to provide some additional information, I tightened the screws as far as I could (by hand). IDK if that could be the problem.

Or maybe I plugged the fan header into the wrong place. The pump is connected to the PWR_FAN, and the fan on the Rad is connected to CPU_FAN. Any ideas ?

Why don't you throw the stock air cooler on it just to see what temps you get?  Then you can figure out if it is the H60.

Did you go from one corner to the next to equalize pressure? Do that and then at the end tighten with a screw driver doing the same sequence.

My friends H60 on his CPU (The 8350) Never passes 53*c In Prime95, or any other stress tests. It sounds like it's applied wrong or that cooler is bad. Use the stock cooler and see what the temps are with that.

I have an 8350 + CM Hyper 412 (Corsair SP Peformance fan) + Asus CVF, usually around 40C idle, I'm ripping a BR movie into MP4 2500kbps and AI Suite II show 53C. Very seldom does the temp hit 65C unless my room isn't AC'ed, only times I see it hit about 65C is when I rip movies into higher bitrate, about 20Mbps. I've played a few games with the FX8350 and I've never seen the 65C warning tab show up, only when I rip BR's do I see it. Something must be wrong, either it isn't mounted properly, or the H60 is faulty....or, AI Suite's reading the temp wrong.

My friends 8350 has the same OC and he gets 55-60C on average with a Hyper TX3 and a Noctua NF-A9x14, and he doesn't use the L.N.A. The ambient in his room is 23C. RMA that sucker.

79 degrees is not that bad for that cooler. Get a new cooler if anything.

I just had a problem with a h110 I was temporarily using this morning for testing, I noticed high temps pretty quick, turns out the pump wasnt coming on, I switched the pump power from the cpu fan header to a different one and it worked perfect straight after that. You should try that and if it doesnt work get a fan header to molex adapter and try that.

Put your fingers on the tubes to even see if the pump is running. You can generally feel or hear the water moving if your close enough, unplug all the other fans to see if it's even working.
