Resale value, 6700k, asrock extreme 7,16gb ddr4 3200

So I want to drop Intel and move to amd for Ryzen, but.

Unsure how my resale of my current Intel hardware would fair.  Any advice in this matter would be great.  Still under warranty and has boxes but eBay Australia seems rather empty of these products for a estimated price

You can keep the ram cause its 3200mhz. Do you plan on switching to take advantage of more cores? 6700K is still a very good chip for gaming if that's your main reason for switching

The reason for your switch could help us to advise you whether or not to switch, ryzen is great if you stream or do a bit of video editing, but if you're mostly just gaming there's no reason to switch unless major components in your system fail. But I think I've heard the Ripjaws V play pretty nicely with ryzen so hold onto those, especially if you can find a mobo that's certified them, might as well save some $ if you can

you won't recoup enough of your money spent to justify upgrading to Ryzen on a cost to performance basis, unless you are making money based on the number of video conversions you do in a day.

it wouldn't be a amd build if the gpu didn't turn into a thermal reactor

I do, do video editing alot, i have a small tech and gaming youtube and my i7 is good but for davinci resolve i still wait minutes to just scrub a video for editing, rather annoying,  i also multitask alot leaving apps open in the background is not alien to me as i often leave projects open such as premier or PS so i can come back to them on the fly,

i just find 4 cores is not enough for me recently, ive been playing with a 6 core 12 thread xeon and ive enjoyed it but x58 is a downgrade so i dont really want to drop back a level,

i have 3 mates with ryzen who out perform me on time and scores in either editing workloads, photoshop, FPS and benching. my 6700k also sucks at Overclocking i can never run it for long without it hitting high temps at 4.6ghz

Ive tried to get a matching pair of 3200 mhz ripjaw v but unfortunately i can not get matching timings and dont know if my system would force either set to match [ 15 15 15 38 etc ]

So you want to sidegrade?

Seriously.. only thing you said is oh i feel myh motherboard is having issues, which means it is not and you are looking for an excuse to waste cash.

Have at it but Ryzen is a sidegrade/downgrade for gaming.

Ryzen 1700 @ 4.1ghz - 16GB 2400mhz Ripjaws V - ASUS ROG Crosshair VI - RX 580 Strix Crossfire.

Sorry, been living under a rock for a few days, but yeah, the only way to get better is to go intel enthusiast line or ryzen, and quite frankly ryzen has much better price to performance and isn't as bad a hit to gaming as some will make it out to be, especially if you're playing above 1080p resolution

Yea i have 3 mates who are high end users, gamers, and content makers who moved to team red and honestly once overclocked the cpus run fine! im honestly ok with a lower clocked cpu if i have more cores to work with.  i  honestly do not see a point in x299 or x99 since the price to performance is so blown out.

So back to your original question, when buying I tend to aim around 60% when selling I hope for more, like 75%. But if you can get 60+% of market price then you did good since that 6700k isn't a major stud
