They'd have a good case, if their mobile app logo had ANY sort of complexity or unique design, but it doesn't. Honestly, the logo shouldn't even be able to be copyrighted.

This is nothing, there are stories that pop up all the time of small companies being sued into compliance (aka bullied by big money) because they used the same COLOR as someone else or had a similar name in a completely different industry. Small breweries and other businesses get hit all the time with this crap.

I thought they were literally suing Pandora for having the Letter P in their company name.

But I can understand if Pandora started using a logo that is very similar to the one PayPal's had for while now, that seems pretty reasonable IMO.

My procrastination is the bane of my existence.

I make games and stuff in my spare time.

Yes it's about the design of the letter P between both of their app logos, and how paypal thinks we people are stupid and can't tell the difference between them. Thus why they might as well PP on the 3rd rail, for coming up with this lawsuit.

Btw i did read the article and know it's not about the letter P.

I get the two confused all the time at a quick glance. On my phone they sit right next to each other. I honestly think PayPal has a case here. The colors are identical and the P is incredibly similar.

Pandora's P flat, while PayPal's is hovering and the bottom P looks like its shadow. This gives it a 3D look and also represents the double P in their name.

I'm aware of what they look like. But when I am walking around, pop my phone out to go to PayPal, sometimes at a quick glance they look so similar I click the wrong one.

Why not just spread out the two icons. :D

I did read the article and never said it was about just the letter.  The issue at hand is that both PayPal and Pandora have app logo designs that are blue and white and prominently feature the letter 'P'.  This is nothing new as Pandora has had a white background logo with a blue P for quite some time.  I personally have no issue what so ever in making a distinction between a white background with a single blue P for Pandora and a blue background with a double P (one white and one light blue) for PayPal.  As for their argument concerning the font used on each app logo, that is also an issue where looking at the logos, Pandora is italicized and PayPal is not, PayPal also has an obvious shadow effect to create their double P. This honestly strikes me as stupid litigation for litigation sake to try and make some kind of money.
