Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask that, hopefully it is:

I built a PC today, but I'm not feeling very confident with the CPU and GPU temperatures.

I bought a Intel Core i5 7600K and I'm using my AMD XFX Radeon R9 380 (the 4GB dual fan model) from my previous build on a Asus Prime B250M-Plus inside a Cooler Master Masterbox Lite 3 case.

The CPU is being cooled by a Corsair H60 Hydro and the idle temps are around 35ºC and the load temps on games is about 55ºC, peak was 58ºC.

I am a bit concerned because my previous CPU, a AMD FX-6300 on the same cooler had like 20ºC idle temps and about 45ºC under load.

As for the graphics card, with everything set to auto, it sits at 38ºC on idle and about 81ºC on load, peak was 85ºC (after playing Skyrim Legendary Edition for about 15 minutes).

If I manually set the fans to max speed, load temps will go to 78ºC but it's quite loud.

Nothing is overclocked (although I have XMP enabled on the bios for the RAM and the CPU is clocking itself at about 4.1 all the time even though it's supposed to be at 3.8).

I am starting to think this case isn't going to do well for this system, I used to have a Cooler Master HAF XB and I never really had myself concerned about temperatures.

I am using the radiator fan as air intake (as suggested by the corsair manual) and I have a  exhaust fan on the back + the PSU fan.

What do you guys think? Are those temps ok? Should I be concerned? Perhaps I should keep the case side panel open?

Thanks in advance!

The 7600K at 58C load is pretty good to me. I don't see anything wrong there.

However, the GPU is running a tad hot for my tastes. I'd try replacing the thermal paste on the GPU core.

I did, before installing it I put fresh Arctic MX-4 on it.

A R9 380 should not be running that hot.

I have the MSI version and she doesn't go higher than 70C under heavy gaming load.

Not sure how the XFX cooler could be that much worse than the MSI one. Granted my CPU is watercooled but its a still a mITX case

It seems the problem is airflow. I removed the side pannel to test and the peak temp for the GPU was 77ºC.

Sadly there isn't anything I can do to improve airflow on this case other than just keeping it open, since my PSU is huge and has a ton of cables that were nearly impossible to manage properly on such a tiny case and I can't fit 2 intake fans on the front because of the radiator, so I'll have to keep it open, which is a shame, it was looking good closed and it was also protected from dust :V

What fans are you currently using?

Moved to Air Cooling.

1 x 120mm in front of the case that is the intake and also is the H60 radiator fan.

1 x 120mm as exhaust in the back, the PSU also has a large one and is working as exhaust.

Are you using the stock case fan? What happened to the 2nd one? The case should come with 2.

Yes the stock one, it only comes with one installed on the back.

Hm, I thought it came with 2 stock fans at the front.

You could try having the H60 at the rear for exhaust and move the 120mm to the front for intake. This would raise temps a bit for your cpu but be better for your graphics card.

The cap in CPU temps compared to your previous is just because they come from different manufacturers and are different product lines. Intels chips run hotter than most of AMD's modern stuff. So your temps for CPU are normal and good, just like the ones you had for AMD one.

I'm keeping the case opened now and when I game i put my gpu fans on max and the cpu ones handled by the bios.

After playing about two hours of killing floor 2 I got max cpu temp at 61ºC (the average was 58ºC) and it never throttled so I guess it is really ok xD

As for the GPU it was at 77ºC all the time, no peaks or anything, only a bit loud because of the fans at 100%.

I think if it remains like this it's all good, right? I'll only have to pay attention to dust more often with the case opened xD

Thanks for the help guys.

Definatly a problem if max fan speed on the GPU is resulting in a tempeture of almost 80c. The CPU temp is completely fine
