Yes.

Can't recommend anything without a budget though. EVGA G2/G3 units are great quality, but not exactly cheap.

No real need for a monitor upgrade, so no need for a GPU upgrade.

Hi guys,

I'm relatively new to pc gaming and i'm very happy with my current system, however i've just got a bonus and was curious as to what you would upgrade first, when the time comes. My specs are listed below:

Intel core i76700 (non-k), stock cooler

Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini 8gb

Gigabyte B150N Motherboard

16GB generic ddr4 RAM (2x16gb)

Kingston 250gb ssd

Seagate 2th hd

Thermaltake core v1 with stock 200mm intake fan

2x arctic 120mm exhaust fans

cooler master b500 V2 500W PSU

nzxt hue+ lights and controller

I am aware I shouldnt upgrade until I have performance issues, but as im new to pc building im not sure what part is the weakest on my list, or what parts are compatible.

Could I replace the gtx 1070 mini with an evga 1080 mini and have no issues with compatibility and power? would the i7 or ram then bottleneck a more powerful gpu?

Thank you in advance :)

Oh true, he needs to get on that RGB hype train, drop like $300 for the same ram but in different colors

Upgrade PSU, don't forget PSU is the most important component in your PC, don't cheap out on PSU, it's a big mistake

If you care about aesthetic, get RGB RAM.

Upgrade the PSU, your current unit is low quality. We can't recommend any upgrades since we don't know your budget, or even your currency. You could add an aftermarket cooler if you're using stock cooler, but it's not necessary, and if you do, do NOT get a 212 EVO. Maybe add another SSD.

What monitor are you using? If it's 1080p or anything lower resolution, upgrade that. Definitely don't upgrade GPU until you upgrade monitor, and a GTX 1070 is fine for anything 1440p 60Hz or lower. Even 1440p 144Hz will be fine with a GTX 1070. GTX 1080 is not going to be a logical upgrade from a 1070, at any point. 1080Ti at least (performance wise) for a logical upgrade.

I'm living in the UK, so my currency is GBP. I don't have a set budget for psu, just whatever is considered reliable enough and suitable for my needs. Is it possible to fit a new psu without removing the other components?

I'm using an LG Ultrawide monitor, not specifically for gaming, but i'm more than happy with it at the moment. It's 29" 2560x1080 5ms, 60hz. Thanks for the response!

Okay, I'd say my budget would be around £60.00 GBP which equates to roughly 80 USD. I was looking at the EVGA 550 B3 550W, as it appears to have th esame amount of connectors as my current psu, so should be easy to switch over. Sorry as im relatively new to pc building, is it as simple as unplugging all cables, unscrewing the old psu, count the new one and insert the new cables?

Thanks again

The 550w EVGA G2 80+ gold is just in budget, if that would be a good recommendation

hi guys! i am new here. i was hoping to upgrade my pc but i have a really old system. core i5 650 in a gigabyte h55-s2h motherboard. so is it a viable option to upgrade on my existing system or should i build a whole new computer? i was considering a radeon rx580 and a 550w 80+ bronze/gold psu and a sata 3 240gb ssd for my boot drive because my motherboard dont have a m.2 slot.

Depends on your budget. You mobo and setup in general is a bit aged, but you can get some great value currency generation parts if you consider a new build.  What would you use your system for, and what is your budget?
