Depends on the program, but I can't really think of many that won't get less than 60Hz on Ultra.

It really depends on which games.  I run 2 MSI Seahawk 1080s on an ROGpg348q (3440x1440 @ 80hz   *yes, I know the monitor can OC to 100hz.. but I start to get annoying scanlines at anything over 80hz*).. and I feel like that is barely enough to run most new titles at Ultra at this resolution.   I usually find that I have to knock shadow quality down a bit-- or adjust draw distance to truly hit my max refresh rate.

I run two Seahawk EKs with a Predator X34 at 100hz.   No scan lines and I have yet to see a single game struggle.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

With pretty much all modern AAA titles you won't be able to run ultra/max settings while expecting 60fps. Take Wildlands and GTA V for example, you will get about 30 fps in Wildlands and about the same in GTA V at max settings. If you are OK with knocking settings down a bit a 1070 would be fine, but if you want to fully max out games like GTA V and Wildlands a 1080 TI or Titan Xp is pretty much the bare minimum at this res. From personal experience, even with my OC'd Titan Xp I cannot max out Wildlands or GTA and get 60 fps. With some slight tweaks though it is possible to get 60 fps.

Nice!  You must be one of the lucky ones.  The scan lines are a well documented issue for a good chunk of users with the pg348q/x34.. seems like playing the lottery. Do you have one of the newer builds or one of the older ones?  I was running the 100hz OC for a little over a year without issues, but they seemed to be getting worse so I decided to knock it down a bit to preserve the life of the panel.

Our processor differences may be the culprit for performance discrepancies.  Your 6850k absolutely outperforms my 4790k.

I took am looking for a new GPU for gaming at this res.

Perhaps we could crowd source a spreadsheet of GPUs and their average frame counts etc.

You mean exactly like what's in the Unigine thread that's pinned at the top of this sub-forum... :D

As someone who owns and plays on a 1440p ultra wide I can say that my 1060 6gb is able to play on at least high settings in prey and fallout 4. When I had a 1080 I still wasnt maxing out games like dues ex, mass effect Andromeda, and wild lands with fps sitting in the 40's. I recommend a 1080ti or wait for vega if your playing the newest triple A games.

Other Stuffs: Red sleeved cables, White LED lighting 2 noctua fans on cpu cooler and Be Quiet PWM fans on case.
