hello, so my friends birthday is coming up soon and i know how much of a computer/hardware nerd he is so i wanted to get an upgraded GPU for him his current specs are: i7-3770 gtx 460 SE pegatron motherboard and 8 gb of ram 500w psu, is there any suitable graphics card for him that is great in performance and not too pricey?

The RX 580 is much less than that. You could get him a 1080 Ti like @FloRolf suggested.

Then get him an EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 (~$780 USD), or an MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X, as those are the top dogs in the 1080 Ti game right now. I'd personally go for the EVGA, as it has a slight edge over the other 1080 Tis (is that how you make it plural?).

I think the EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 (whew, what a title!) is a bit better, at least from Jayztwocents' video. But is it out yet, or still on preorder?

According to the benchmarks for the load power usage on the 1080 Ti, you actually may want to get a better power supply.
