Not for full compatability... it's still over the place and some mem kits can't hit 3200 mhz on some boards even though it's ryzen certified

AMD Ryzen is a beta product and those who bought it or are buying it now until my guess is around 2019 around that period AMD would've left the fixing to board manufactures to fix all their issues, are guinea pigs.

Back in 2006 when we finally built my friend a PC so he could play CS:Source above slideshow levels; we took that Dell rubbish with Intel GMA graphics to a field as well.

Great. Having no worries of memory frequencies out of the box and OC too. Now maybe even higher frequencies will be possible, we'll see.

It's a new architecture built from the group up, not just the same thing with a 5-10% improvement like Intel, or in Kabylake's case, 0% improvement.

What was wrong with X99?  I've been on it since Sept. 2014 which was the beginning (2 weeks after launch), and I never had to do any mandatory BIOS updates like you do with Ryzen.

X99 had a very rocky launch. iirc Asus boards were destroying CPUs.

It's a beta product as much as X99 was. Both horribly plagued with problems at launch and for a few months. But that's not the norm for all launches.

X99 wasn't a beta product either. Having a rough start doesn't make something a beta product. I know this is splitting hairs, but I point this out because saying something is factually beta when it's not is incorrect. (like some have done on this thread)

 

Anyone who acts surprised that a new architecture/platform is having problems is either new to this or is just looking to start fanboy fights. Early adopters know what they're getting themselves into, and if they don't then they should have done their research before buying into a new architecture.

Skylake didn't have anywhere near the level of issues, neither did Haswell. But Haswell-E did.

There's a difference between launching a new architecture that people have to understand how to get the best out of it, and launching an unfinished product and trying to fix it and finish it along the way.

It's kinda pointless talking to him and some others whose name I shall not mention when it comes to AMD... They blatantly ignore that intel had such problems in the past because you know intel doesn't have issues with their products.

What problems?  Intel hasn't had a launch close to this bad in the last 10 years.  Hell DDR4 has been in the consumer space for the last 3 years and AMD *still* fucked it up.
