How many fans can i put on this?

What motherboard? The number and types of fan headers should be listed in the specifications and manual.

It has one cpu_fan and one sys_fan header. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B250M-PRO-VD.html#productSpecification-section

If you want to run 3 fans, you can use a splitter.

according to MSI, it only has a cpu fan connector, and a single "system fan" connector.

so in short, it supports two fans.

but there's nothing stopping you from using 4-pin splitters for your fans, or buying an additional fan controller.

It likely is, but ultimately it depends on what you want to do. If you get a fan controller you can set it up to be compatible with effectively infinite fans. (All about the duct tape.)

Mainboard supports two. If you haven't gotten any GFX card(s) yet, perhaps take a look at ASUS' offerings, as some of them have fan headers on the cards (albeit tied to GPU temps, not CPU, which can be a great thing).

Otherwise, you can add fans almost indefinitely with fan splitters and hubs.

NZXT Sentry 3. It can run 5 fans independantly of CPU or GPU temps, giving you a good deal of control over RPM (and subsequently, noise and airflow). I've got one, running 2 Corsair SP120 RGB fans, works well. Requires an available 5.25" bay though.

Otherwise, I don't.

Not a controller just a molex to fan splitter.

The fans we include with the SMART case have both 3-pin and Molex connectors, and can be daisy-chained off a single connector without a splitter.
