Will the EVGA 1080 ti Hybrid work with my PSU?

Hi all,

My current PC is:

CPU: Intel  Core i7-7700k

CPU Cooler: EVGA CLC 280

Motherboard: EVGA Z270 Stinger

Memory: HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-2666 MHz

Storage: Samsung 960 Evo 1TB

Video Card: MSI 980 Ti (on it's last legs)

Case: NZXT Manta

Power Supply: Silverstone Strider Platinum 550W

So will the Platinum 550W power supply be enough to power the new 1080 ti Hybrid from EVGA? Like this one:

Thanks all!

if it can run your current system then yes, the 10 series uses less power than the 9 series.

I'd get at least a 700w if I were you, just to be sure.  I have two 1080 Tis and I use a 1000W PSU.

1000watt is way over the top, he doesnt need a 700, 550 should be fine.

I would feel comfortable using a 500W with this. Its going to be fine.

Thanks all, it managed to run the 980 ti pretty well but I thought I'd ask to be sure! Wasn't sure either if the Platinumness of the PSU would make a different too haha

Yes, that is plenty of juice to power the thing, especially because you have a pretty high quality PSU.

There have been plenty of videos showing, that power efficient systems like these even run on 350 to 400w PSUs without any problems. And I'm talking about GTX 780 and 4th gen Intel i7 kind of power efficiency.

But you guys are generally not wrong by using a higher wattage PSU for obvious reasons :)

i got a 650watt due to having 970 sli, although even a 970 sli system with a 4th gen only pulls around 550 watts.

I was running two GTX 980s in SLI with a 760w PSU and that worked fine aswell, even with pretty high overclocks.
Funnily enough a lot of people recommended me to get a 1000w or even a 1200w PSU for that here on that forum.
It's good to see some people still have common sense. :)

i see people all the time getting 1000 watt psus and i want to slap them, they pay like £160 for them and its like, you could have gotten a £100 850 watt and saved £60.
