Dont get the NEX power supply, the G2/G3 are much better

May as well try to keep the black and white theme so try to find white memory ( I know G.skill makes that stick in white)

I'd switch the SSD for an 850 evo at that price

They think it will destroy the computer. I tried to convince his dad, but his dad's a hardcore conservative.

??? That's weird. Overclocking is actually supported and bragged about by the companies that make the computers, there's a huge community, and you can't really break it unless you turn the voltage up and melt the computer. That's like thinking putting a turbo on your sports car will break it.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820232174 here's the ram I was talking about (it doesnt show up on PC part picker for some reason) I would get this over the kit you have only because this will allow your friend to expand to 32 gigs if he ever wants to in the future!

overclocking can actually kill your components, especially if you fuck it up and accidentally set one of the settings way too high. it likely wouldn't happen but

Correct me if I'm wrong ,but I heard the 6700k is better than the 7700 if both are locked. The 6700k is cheaper than the 7700 at microcenter.

boost clock on both are 4.2ghz so unless your friend gets a z1/270 mobo and overclock there isn't much of a difference in gaming. since the 6700k is cheaper i'd get that.

6700K + Z170/270 motherboard = overclock

6700K +  H110, B150/250, H170/270 motherboard = no overclock

which part of both our builds look like they have a Z170/270 motherboard? and of course, you can't be fucked to read this part.
