Hi! I am looking to buy a used 13 inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro either modified or bone stock (unmodified). I would prefer to buy one bone stock since I'd like to modify it myself, but what would you guys think is a fair price for a bone stock or modified 13 Inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro? The specs for a bone stock model are 4GB of DDR3 RAM, i5 3210m @2.5GHz, 500GB 5,400 RPM HDD, and a optical drive. I see bone stock models going for around $500 to $550 on Craigslist in my area, but I think that's a bit nuts and overpriced... What are your guys thoughts and inputs? Please vote in the polls and if the option isn't in the polls then please drop a comment down bellow on what you think is a fair price for a 13 inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro that is either bone stock or modified.

I'd advise you get the fat 2012 Macbook Pro 15in model. It has a dGPU and a quad core.

These are the last of the truly upgradeable macbooks. I'd expect to pay a little premium for them. If you can get one with 16gb ram and a 512gb ssd for 600 I'd jump on it.

I don't need the 15 inch model since it's just going to be used for rather basic tasks, so the extra heat weight and lower battery life isn't worth it in my situation. I have a custom built desktop to do all my heavy lifting.

True but not $500 to $550 for a completely bone stock model without any mods. You gotta admit, that's kinda overprice for 4GB of RAM and a old 500GB 5,400 RPM spindle drive. At that price range I'd expect at least 8GB of ram and a 120GB SSD rather than a slow mechanical drive.

They were selling new for 1000$ a year or two ago for the exact same spec. And Macbooks hold their value beyond what their spec sheet says because of the premium quality. I think 400ish for a stock model is a good deal but I don't think it will be easy to find. For a similar spec PC i wouldn't pay more than 250$.
