Watercooling Pumps

Hi everyone :)

I have a MCP655 pump and was wondering if it would be able to cope with 2 dual radiators to cool a CPU and a gtx 670? Would another pump be recommended for that?

Thanks!

One MCP655 will be able to handle all that no problem, that thing's a beast

Im using the D5 with 1x 420Rad, 2x 140Rad, 1x 240Rad, Cpu Block and Dual GPU Blocks at the same time with a single loop and I've never encountered any problem at all.

I recommend using the EK-XTop for better performance.

WOW thats a lot! thanks for the reply!

May I ask, how does the EK-XTop improve performance?

It increases the pressure, which is kinda neccesary for big loops. It also gives you the comfort to simply screw a g1/4 fitting on, what you would not be able to do with the standart pump housing.

Have a graph:

All the tops have pretty even performance...EK is nothing exceptional.

I know it's super over kill but if you REALLY wanted dual pump. I know Bitspower makes a dual pump mod for the D5 pump.

I have also read some extreme water cooling enthuses like dual D5 pumps for if one pump does fail. Only seen this in extreme builds!

You are linking graphs without understanding what they mean.

1. The second graph is noise v flow, unrelated to performance.

2. The first graph only shows 5 tops and 2 bays,2 of the tops are EK...there are MANY more tops than just EK,Koolance and AC.

3. Stren is sponsored by EK,

4. Seeing as you didnt look very hard,on the same site we find....

See that Alphacool D5 top? The one that is better than EK?

Cherrypicking graphs, especially with someone that knows what tops are good, will only lead to frustration on your part.

I saw that one yea, thats on the highest setting btw. All the lower D5 settings ek wins.

Proof?

There is no mention nor graph to back up what you say.

That Alphacool top is ahead from 0.75 gpm and above, you think that there is some sort of restriction that comes into play when the pump speed drops? Not likely....

According to skinnee, the ek should perform slightly better on lower settings, but anyways, I just gave OP an advice.

I like the EK top, I really do. All I wanted to point out is, that the pump will perform better with a aftermarket top + you can attach fittings really easy without having a pain in the ass.

I agree, pump tops are the way forward but be wary of placing to much emphasis on very, very small performance differences (except the Aqualis, that really is restrictive but not performance degrading).

I could get the D5 pump and top cheaper than a MCP655 from swiftech. But i like swiftech :]

A D5 pump is a D5 pump regardless who's name is on it. The MCP655 is a D5 label from Swiftech stuck on it.

I have a Swiftech 655b pump in a XSPC Acrylic D5 single reservoir running a single loop with 1/2" ID 3/4" OD tubing with XSPC RX 360 to EX 360 to a Swiftech Apogee HD to 2 water blocked GTX 670s back to the reservoir without a bit of a problem.
