Is This The CHEAPEST New PC Build That's "Acceptable?" ($350)

Hello all, I have another build for you guys to look over.

I'm going for the cheapest possible NEW build that's actually practical and "acceptable." I know you can always go cheaper but at this price range and with NEW parts I believe the G4560/RX460 is right at that boundary line before you should just buy used parts. Also, please don't include any B150M builds as this would go to someone who doesn't have a Skylake processor to flash the motherboard, thanks!

Let me know what you think! Thanks as always.

a cheap pc would be

1- go to ebay

2- search up older oem build with 2nd or 3rd gen i7 or i5

3- look for deals, you can pick up a pc with i7 3770 for around 150$ to 200$

4- buy it

5- pick up a good psu and a gfx card on sale ( rx480/580 or 470/570) can be low as 143 usd after rebate.

building a cheap new computer is a bad value, not worth the time or money.

Yeah, can be cheaper with less performance but not worth imo

Thinking the same thing. I would say any lower and it becomes not worth it.

you can go cheaper, but i wouldnt really even call that one acceptable ;)

--

if you want to go cheap, hunt for decomissioned HP workstations with standard ATX power supplies, they're stupid cheap, and the power supplies are seemingly indestructible as long as you dont push them too far.

yes i have, using an old OEM psu is a dumb idea, getting something like a cheap corsair 450watt 80+ bronze PSU on sale( especially after rebate they go low as 30$).

an old OEM psu, which is in the case of HP's workstations (there's a reason i say decommissioned workstation, not some pavilion piece of junk) is most likely made by a better manufacturer than a cheapo modern unit ;)

building a cheap new computer is a bad value, not worth the time or money.

For the price, this cant be beat.

I got a I5-2400 based HP desktop about 8 months ago as a super budget gaming computer

I paid $85 shipped for HP 6200 I5-2400, 8GB and a 500gb hdd

I added a $35 120gb SSD

RX 460 2gb for $70

For under $200 delivered to my door

It gets 424 on Cinebench

250 fps in csgo at 1080p high

and 65fps in GTA V with AA at 2x

For daily tasks its hard to beat the value, snappy with the SSD,  Pulls 185w from the wall at full load, very quiet.

Obviously the computer is used.  And knock on wood, it has not skipped a beat.

It would take a new computer of about double the price to beat it imho.

(The Multithreaded is about 10-15% faster than a G4560, A boot SSD makes a HUGE difference in day to day computing, on my main computer I had a g4600, and having a quad core for me is really makes a difference, even in daily tasks.  The 4600 did fine in gaming, but it stuttered in daily tasks for me, but popping in a $180 I7 for me made a huge difference)

I ended up upgrading that into a higher tear budget gaming/daily for my main rig

I7-6700t

H110 MB

16gb ram

RX470

CX430

120gb SSD

2tb HDD

Ive got $584  in that, and its a noticeable improvement over the i5-2400/rx460 combo.  But it isnt 3x better

(my main concerns for that are power consumption and heat, I have the 470 undervolted, and it pulls 140w total, and its a lot more powerful than the Prebuild, but it cost a lot more too!)
