What processor should I get?

I am going to build a new pic for my mum as her old hp touch smart 520 is getting old and slow. This may seem a bit overkill for just internet browsing and looking at emails but I was planning on getting a ryzen 5 1400 chip with snappy ram as I heard it helps a lot. I am planning of putting a fast GPs in it in the future so I can play games. I am confused on which chip to get though as there isn't much out there comparing the ryzen 5 and which is the best value for money.

Can anyone help?

This was the planned build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/SpicyCactus/saved/tsnhMp

If the Ryzen 5 1400 is the best value for money CPU you can get, which it is versus an I3 at this point, then get one. Waiting for Ryzen 3 would probably be a pain.

At this budget R5 isn't a good option.  Ryzen does not have integrated graphics meaning you need a GPU to go with that system

Getting the best of what is available right now is usually what most people would choose for, unless the next big thing is 1 month away, max.

The Ryzen 5 1400 should be a great CPU for light computer using, especially so since the 1500X and 1600X are excellent gaming ones that easily compete and outperform the 1800X and Broadwell-E chips on performance per dollar.

Luckily, for under 30€ he can get a GPU to output some graphics xD, shouldnt dent his budget too much. One of those GT cards could come in handy right now.

AMD is coming out with an RX 550 that will be hella cheap and be better than an iGPU. Buy the Ryzen CPU and that.

Igpu on an i5 or even i3 (even a Pentium G4560) will perform significantly better than an old garbage level GPU.  Wait for 550

Definitely.  A 460 or 470 would play really well with it, as would a 1050 or 1050 ti.  You could even get an RX 480, 580 or GTX 1060

Would it be worth upgrading to a 1500 or is a 1400 just as good oc?

1400 is the better option between 1400/1500X but the best value upgrade is getting a 1600.

Spend a bit more to get a 1600, it is much better than both the 1500X and the 1400.

@SpicyCactus Here is a very capable gaming system running an RX 470.  Swap it out for a RX 570, RX 480, RX 580 or gtx 1060 to get extra power

Also your PSU was a firebomb, got rid of it :P

What you want is a cpu that has gold and any type of shiny silver material on it. The shinier the better. Bigger cpu gives off more shine, and upcoming Skylake-E is where you should be looking at. Might need to go to bank and borrow a small load of a million dollars doe.
