Since you have military background, do you have a clearance?

If so, look to start contacts with the contractors on base in the IT departments.  Good money to be made.

Definitely get Sec + if you do aim to go for a on base contractor job.  That is required to operate on most military computer systems.

I am currently an E-2 (PV2) and you cannot take the Sec+ unless you are an E-4 (Spc.). As for a clearance I have secret level clearance. I am still currently in TRADOC btw.

?  That is an odd requirement.

Seems Army likes to do a few things different on certs.

Though, you could take the test out of your own pocket.  But, Sec+ is more theory based, and I advise a good chunk of studying from more than one book or use videos on the subject matter.

On the civilian front, there is large range in the IT field: networking, virtualization, support desk, server support, client builds, and so forth.  By the look of the certs you going for, either networking jobs dealing with network setup or managing switches and routers or a security network manager.
