So apparently ASrock came out with a gpu that supports 6 gpus...

 http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/11/15/asrock-releases-motherboards-designed-to-mine-bitcoins-generate-internet-moolah/

so it is made to mine bitcoin but like with 6 gpus I'm guessing it means like having 6 computing cards?

Now I don't know much about mining bitcoin, but I know you can't put 6 gpus in SLI so can someone tell me wtf is this?

you don't need them to work as one. they can individually do work to mine the bitcoins.

Ohh alright, that's what I though, but I saw this article on a thread on another forum from someone asking if 6way SLI is a thing so I was like wtf?

6-way sli would be pointless unless devs caught on. You can throw up to 12 gpus in a system and have 1 be the main gpu or up to 4 of them in crossfire/sli and the rest act as tesla compute cards for bitcoins/folding.

Who said it has to be in SLI?

It's no different to having a quadro and a 'gaming oriented' gpu in the same system.

1st. Already posted in news section

2nd. It can mine/fold without SLI. SLI can support up to 4 way SLI ONLY (for now, at least)

But PCIe 2.0 x1 heavily bottlenecks!

Mining doesn't depend on bandwidth as peviously stated.

This is pretty cool you could either get this and use your gpus to mine or you could just a a couple of USB bitcoin miners and put them on a usb hub to mine which are not bad imo. Been quite a while since I seen Parallel and Serial ports on motherboards.

Multi GPU systems for computing is nothing new, we've been using it for mining and folding for years by now. ASRock are the first to specifically target a motherboard towards bitcoin mining though. They're a couple of years late though seeing as existing application specific integrated circuits are so much more efficient now.

I was going to say, i wonder if you get the full hash rate if you have 6 of these installed http://www.butterflylabs.com/monarch/ Then I realised something interesting. Does anyone plan to power these cards... Or? Even the 1600w Lepa can't power 6... You would need two and that is just annoying

I am good at computer

I was thinking of the same device. These might actually go well with these boards. Problem is the costs.
