Would an r5 1600x be a wortht upgrade to my i5 3570k?

in terms of gaming it will not be a big improvement but for streaming, rendering, or heavy multitasking it will be a big improvement.

No.  It would improve performance, but you have to buy a new motherboard and RAM, so it's not very cost effective.  Stick with your 3570K.  If you don't already, get a good cooler to push your overclock further.

Most of that performance gain is due to the 12 threads, look at the quad core performance(which is what alot of games still use at most) and its only 12% up on the 3570k. Take the cost of the cpu, motherboard and new RAM, it wouldn't really be worth upgrading.

 

but that all depends on the systems use.

It seems like Ryzen 1600x performance is really well, and I think it will age very nicely as new software is more multi threaded.  Should be a noticeable upgrade for you.

You could just buy a new CPU, the 3770k.  They can be found for around $300 and would be a pretty nice upgrade.

Overall it is a really good board, but a few minor issues.  The little fans in the Mark 1 are super shitty and noisy - I replaced one with a 40 mm Noctua, but I could not find a replacement for the 35 mm fan.  Support for NVME drives is OK but not great, even with latest BIOS (this is typical for Z97 boards).  My Intel 750 drive works but occasionally the BIOS decides it doesn't like it anymore and I have to re-flash the bios.  Luckily Asus made this extremely easy to do thanks to the button on the back and dedicated USB port.  Overclocking stability is good. I love how many PWM fan headers the board has (I'm using them all).  

 

Very happy with the board and will definitely consider this line of boards for future builds.

Yes. You are essentially upgrading to an i7-5820K on an all-inclusive motherboard. You can always sell your old components like your mobo, RAM, and CPU and upgrade so it lessens the cost. Further, re-using parts like your case, PSU, and GPU (assuming it's good enough in modern games for you) will save you even more money. If you do all that, you'll probably be spending about $50 extra than what you make back, or you could just sell your whole system (minus your drives) on eBay and get much more out of it, then you should be in the positive by about $80 after the fees that eBay takes out.

That being said, my 3570k is still a beast and has much more life in it -- albeit, that could change as developers stop optimizing for quad core cpus.

Just as a last bit of input, I don't think we will stop seeing support for quad cores anytime soon, I think we will just see greater support for processors with more than 4 cores.

Yes but only get the X model if you get a non OCable board since the 1600 is overclockable unless you want to take the safe route and grab a 1600X + OCable board (B series should be ok for that) ;) (be careful with the RAM you pick some does not work, check with your motherboard to see if it is compatible!) o3o

Yes but only get the X model if you get a non OCable board since the 1600 is overclockable unless you want to take the safe route and grab a 1600X + OCable board (B series should be ok for that) ;) (be careful with the RAM you pick some does not work, check with your motherboard to see if it is compatible!) o3o

OCing RAM is often what triggers the crashes.
