Asus braces for a dual gtx 760, its called the asus gtx 760

As far as i can see there is only the one power connector in the usual place.

It can't be a GTX790 it has not enough Vram.
It is the dual GTX760 you can clearly see that it's the Vram of a 2GB card.

This is the Mars 760 Asus is working on. Obviously Asusdue to the Super Alloy chokes. The power connectors should be dual 8-Pins

The power connector shown in the pic only has 3 pins going length ways, equating to a 6pin. It also has 6 written next to the connector on the PCB

I fyou referring to the J6 marking, I'm not sure if that indicates 6-Pin. There is a possibility that the extra 2 pins are hiding and the other 8-Pin is not showing.

its got a gk 104-225-a2 chip and (assuming 16x 256mb chips) 2gb frame buffer along with plx we can conclude its a gtx760x2

Can someone enlighten me what purpose this cards serves because I don't get it...

Yep, this is ASUS ROG MARS 760

Those are clearly gk104 chips you can tell by looking at the die size, GK110 is far bigger than that.

gk 110 chip look and the number :GK110-425-B1 

 

here is gtx 760 the number is :GK104-226-A2

 

if you zoom in the image in the first post will see clearly that the last numbers are  226-A2

its the asus 760x2 it has there chokes and it has a digi+ chip that only asus has.

2x GTX760 makes no sense at all.
Why should I buy a dual Card when I can get a single Card that's even faster like the 780 ti or R9-290X.

Well, technically a GTX 760 has a 4x64-bit bus, not a 256-bit bus... They're just totalling the aggregate of all the memory busses as they do with all cards (of course they will not mention the fact that all the memory data will have to be sent twice which negates the doubled throughput hehe).

I do wonder what the point of this card is, it will be weaker than the old 690, or around equal at best assuming they will cherry-pick the best 760 cores and overclock them through the roof. A 680/770 core has like 40% more cores than the 760.

This was obviously an attempt to offer GTX 780 performance at a lower price point (two 760s were $150 cheaper than a 780 last month), this is a clear indicator that Nvidia had no plans to cut prices on the 780.

A dual gk110 chip would be difficult because of the physical size of the chips.

Size really isn't a problem for Asus.

for a air cooler it's awesome and will be effective for GK110 chip.I thing they didn't put a cooler like ares 2 is for made for AMD cards.
