Yes it will work, why would you get 6700k when you already have 7700k? What is your cooler?

I presume you are running stock. Can you running a stress test? and come back with load temps . 75 degrees doesn't seem too hot, im running 6700k at 4.8GHZ and hitting 78 degrees at load.

Try remounting the cooler and replacing the thermal paste.

Also, don't use the stock fans, they suck.

75C is not anywhere near hot, hot is 90+

Probably got bad silicon if its that much of an issue.  side/downgrading to a 6700K isn't really worth it and won't  help temps

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Something's up then because I'm running mine with an NH-9DL cooler in a mini ITX rig and it maxes out at 80C.

What do you mean?  Are you talking about returning it for a new one from the store you bought it from?

Well then get better cooling, or delid it, or reduce the voltage.

70-75C is perfectly fine for an intel CPU, why do you care if it's 60C or 70C if it literally does not matter?

Live in cooler climate? Set your aircon to 10 degrees :)
