The SAO OVA is good and the first arc of SAO2 is worth watching at least once I think.  The second arc of SAO2 is much better than arc 1 IMO.   

 

Though season 1 will be always be my favorite.  Especially the Aincrad arc.

Well you continue leveling up so enemies consistently get higher leveled. You also get access to upgrades that aren't available in the first playthrough. It's essentially a New Game+ situation. I'm also somewhat a completionist when it comes to games like it.

I pretty much never 100% a game despite my presumed OCD or completionist tendencies nagging me to.  Usually because as much as I want to there's just too much to do and I'd rather move on to a new game or some things are just so tricky and time consuming to do or find all of them that I'm like "yeaahhhh I'm not going to do this before I'm dead...".

 

Though I did get every trophy on Horizon: Zero Dawn.  Only game I ever did that.  Which makes me wonder if the trophies are too easy to get that even I would bother/be able to get them all or I just liked the game enough.

 

 

Does Crunchyroll or Funimation have Overlord?    Or somewhere else?

I wish they'd make a Huniepop 2.    NSFW stuff aside I think the puzzle game part is excellent.  Forget bejeweled and its clones give me more of hunipop's puzzle.

My entire memory of Sao is that he almost bangs his sister and that the villain has literally no motive in S1.

There was a little issue related to her liking him I think but it doesn't turn into a "came very close to incest" situation I'm pretty sure.

As for the bad guy motives: in the Aincrad arc the game designer wanted to create and control a virtual world that was as realistic as possible or something like that.  Basically I think he wanted to "play God".    Though somewhere between the start when players are trapped in SAO and when Kirito defeats the designer and frees everyone I believe he lost his sense of purpose a bit, he says something to this effect right before he fights Kirito the last time, perhaps this is why he agreed to duel Kirito a second time with the freedom of the remaining players at stake?    Because he realized his original goals had been forgotten or corrupted and he was ready for things to be over I would guess.  

 

In the ALO arc of season 1 the bad guy there was using the game to trap Asuna as well as his shady business dealings if I remember right so again motives there too.

 

 

Maybe watch SAO again to refresh your memory?      It's not that everyone has to like it but perhaps you don't remember it well and it's clouding your impression of it.

 

That's happened to me with games for example.  There's been a few times where I remembered I hadn't finished a game and I mistakenly thought it was because I didn't like it.  Then I resume playing and realize nope I like it and I was just remembering wrong.  ?
