[US] Skylake board for $30 brand new

Guest

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157684&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Price: 39.99 USD but with a 10 USD rebate which becomes only 29.99

Yes it's a micro ATX not mini-ITX.

13-157-684-01.jpg?w=660&h=500

Basic features:

  • DVI-D dual link
  • HDMI
  • 2 x USB 3.0 at the back IO 2 more for front panel
  • 4 x USB 2.0 at the back
  • 4 x SATA 3 ports
  • PS/2 port for old peripherals
  • Gigabit LAN
  • Audio 7.1
  • PCIE 3.0 x16
  • PCIE 2.0 x1
  • Supports DDR4-2133 RAM. Only 2 RAM slots even though it's a B150 chipset
  • And some other non note-worthy features (like ASRock OMG which stands for Online Management Guard not Oh My God). You also get a UEFI tech service too (which is a smart way of saying Customer service which I believe LTT would be way faster than waiting for ASrock rep to respond and would most likely to tell you to RMA). Oh and this particular board claims you can do photoshop faster 5 times. No joke
  • AM1-XFastRAM-BG.png

Please do note: it claims to support 7th gen cpu but if this board you purchase does not come with a supported BIOS then you can not use it just yet. And this board does not have a feature to update BIOS without a processor.

$20 is $20 man :3

It's a solid deal, but @herman mcpootis pointed out to me that this board is tiny for something labeled micro-ATX. It doesn't work with Kabylake without a BIOS update either. It's only useful if I see Skylake chips for cheaper than Broadwell. Broadwell i5s have been cheaper often enough to circumvent the added expense of a B250 board.

yeah i stated in my OP about those issues. would be nice for ultra budget build though if you get a bios update somehow

I mean, now that it's almost April, they probably all ship with an updated BIOS. However, when I recommend H110 boards with Kabylake CPUs, I always recommend buying them at retail stores so you can check the manufacturing date on the box. Some manufacturers even print the BIOS version.

I will chat with a newegg rep tomorrow and see if they can provide any info. It's 1AM here

They probably won't be able to check right away, since retail sites know when something was shipped to their warehouse and not necessarily when it was manufactured, or what shipment your order will be taken out of.

But it's worth a shot.

Yeah, last time I asked a BHPHotovideo rep about some info with a prebuilt they just told me what they see from the site (like everybody else) so wasn't really helpful much

now that's value. I noticed this aswell, good price for b150 with more features compared to h110

probably better vrms and quality compared to h110 aswell but that doesn't matter tbh

idk
