Should I get CS:GO?

So, I've heard that CS:GO is a great game, and I know that over 25 million people have bought it.  However, it has recently been getting some bad reviews on Steam.

Are these people right in that hackers and salty people are laying waste to the entire game, or are they wrong?

Sorry for the mess!  My laptop just went ROG!

to a degree. some of the casual modes you run into hackers every now and then. salty people. yes and no. there are lots of people screaming insults but you do meet some really nice people. Id say its the same as most other games.

the just did a complete redo of it, you basically went back two teirs in skill untill you relearned every weapon sound, how steps sounded, where people where based of how the steps sounded and so on. its not specifically broken its just hard for someone to compleatly relearn a fundemental mechanic to even try to keep playing the game, its probably fine if you start from nothing but as someone thats played it since 2013 or something i just cant anymore. also smurfs, you will face a LOT of smurfs and hackers and possiably even worse, russians

Hello, I have a long history with CS. I started playing CS back in 2003, played it for some time at competitive level. As far as CSGO goes I first tried the beta version which was back in 2011, but didn't play it much, after that played it for about 2 months in 2014 and this year I played it for about a month. CSGO has a very different community than the original CS and i mean that in a bad way. If you have friends to play with and against in CS GO you will be pretty happy but if you don't its a totally different ball game. To be clear what most annoys me are cheaters, believe me theres a lot of them, the VAC system is one of the worst anti cheats systems in any computer game, it takes them months to ban a cheater, no to mention that cheaters buy 10 accounts when the game is on sale for $4. But there is a way to avoid this by signing up on ESEA and playing there. The anti cheat system there is a hundred times better but you need to pay a monthly fee in order to play, thus making cheaters not to sign up at all. Plus ESEA has 128 tick servers in comparison to the valve's 64 tick ones. This makes the gameplay twice as smooth, every competitive match and serious player plays on 128 tick servers. Furthermore I consider CSGO a bit childish in comparison to the original CS because of the skins, you will encounter a bunch of 12 yr old showing off their $500 knives just because they got rich parents. As far as reviews go I have no idea what people write about CSGO but if they write bad stuff its probably because theres alot of toxic community around this game. Dunno how NA servers are but EU is pretty toxic, there are always russians in the game which don't speak english at all and curse all the time, also theres a handful of autistic players that sing patriotic songs about their country and make it so you cannot hear where the bullets are coming from. But not to distract you from all the negativity, still the game has insane skill cap which is why people play it, and its way more fun if you play with have 4 friends to play with.

I have owned all CS parts and I still cannot bring myself to play it regularely.

Put short, the game feels horribly outdated and is just wayyy too different compared to modern shooters. You really have to put time and energy into getting good at the game. This means practicing things like recoil patterns, reaction time and map layouts. And even then you go into a server and realize that most people are 200h ahead of you in that department.

Is it a bad game? Not at all.

Would I recommend it for casual gaming? Not really - you will have more fun with BF or CoD.

Paladins is great lol. TF2 is also messed up, but to an ever greater deal. like its even worse. you cant even pick what map you want to play anymore, comunity is dead and so on. competetive TF2 is also a nice joke they tried to pull...

Spray control and grenade throws take time to master

Beware of cheaters

Every game almost sucks in lower ranks

It's a skill based competitive shooter not for the faint of heart. I remember the first time I played and was tasked to take down a bunch of ruthless terrorists who were trying to destroy evidence of a weapons-cache in the shadows of Chernobyl, every night for the following week I had horrible nightmares of me being back on the battlefield watching my comrades die left and right .

I wouldn't really recommend CS:GO for the more casual gamer but aside from that you will encounter hackers and salty players like most games nobody can really say how often you'll encounter them but they're out there ready to ruin your parade.

It is garbage for new players.

I played the game one Silver rating game with my sister after having not played a while. It is total garbage for new players because my team tried to kick me ~10 times. I was doing ok.  My sister said they only could not kick me because she voted no. I mean wtf is this shit when 4 other rages can kick one for playing bad.

Not worth my nerves. I rather play other more relaxed games.

Hackers aren't a problem, or not a big one. Especially at low ranks. It's a 15$ game it really shouldn't be a huge decision to buy

What's hilarious about this is that I keep getting conflicting opinions about the game. xDxD

You'll suck at first. For a long time. Then you'll be decent. After 1000-2000 hours you might even be LE if you're really good. I really suggest the game, it's only 15 euros and it's pretty fun. It's totally normal to stop playing for a few weeks or so. Hackers aren't that big of a problem after you are in "prime matchmaking".  Once you know the "basics" of the game, common spots, where enemies can be etc. you can look up youtube videos about the economy in-game and spray control and grenade spots.

My stuff:

Spoiler

CPU :  Intel i5 8400 | GPU : MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB

RAM : 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @ 3600MHz

Mouse : Logitech G502 HERO SE | Keyboard : Mountain Everest Max w/ Cherry MX Brown

Headset : Beyerdynamics DT990 Pro 250Ω w/ AT2020USB+

Monitor : Acer XF240H @  144Hz

Used to play. Turned into a time-sink and the urge to get better always made me go back for more. Just don't and save yourself tons of time that you can be doing other, more productive things.

Or try it and say goodbye to your life for a while, up to you!

Well then, I'm sorry, but I value my life, so I'm not playing this game.

I'd say wait till it's on sale, then you are are either happy, or less regretful.

The hacking has gotten worse even in casual, and overall it has gotten a little less friendly. Someone recently on an opposing team that lost got all triggered because I said GG.

There are still plenty of fun players though. I guess it's kind of a mix bag.
