Mid Range First time build.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sPkKd6

^that is what I have so far

I have no Idea what I am doing, plz help.

Edit: sorry, I forgot to read the "Before posting" things

Budget: around $1K, is flexible, because I am currently applying for jobs and my parents are covering all of my living expenses currently. however the build will go down around a month from now.

Aim: 1-2 monitors, upgradeablity, high framerate 1080p gaming. (maybe 4k later) (maybe streaming)(maybe video editing if I ever get there)

Peripherals: already have mouse and keyboard, need to buy monitor/s as well

Location: Maryland, United States

why I am upgrading: I have only ever owned laptops, and the one I play games on just got the Blue Screen of Death, and is going to be shipped back to lenovo soon.

1. No 7600K with Z170 unless you already have Skylake chip

2. 1050 Ti + i5  HUGE RED X

3. Correct me if I am wrong, but that PSU looks kinda sketchy. Is that the Elite V2 from a few years ago?

1. I was thinking that the board would be like otherr Z170 boards

2. Exactly

3. I was thinking that was the Elite V2 which was crap but this one is not

Unless you are a pure gamer, a Ryzen 7 system might be better. Or a Ryzen 5.

This is a good build, but get the windows at g2a/kinguin/reddit and switch the 4gb to 8gb

Ah, to not have to pay bills. I miss those days. So many children on this forum.

You'll find that you rapidly run out of room with that 250GB SSD. I'd suggest getting a larger one, or perhaps supplementing it with an HDD, which can be done later if you don't have the money now. They're super cheap.

I'd go with an RX470 or RX480 if you can stretch the budget.

Other than that looks like a nice start! There are many ways to get to the end goal, as you can see from the plethora of other builds people have made.

Yea, It is nice to not have to pay bills, right now I am taking a semester off College and trying to transfer to a new, less expensive school. Although I have to deal with the psychological issues living with your parents causes. So I am currently considering that to be my rent.

I'm so glad I didn't grow up in the US for that reason alone. School down there is ridiculously expensive.

Hahaha, depends on the parents I suppose. A lot of my friends parents are quite chill.

at the end of the day unless you have proof that they aren't legit copies i would say you are wrong. if they weren't legit copies i would think Microsoft would have something to say to kinguin.

Hmmm, Google it. Look at all the people that have had issues with buying keys from there.

Can they catch everyone? No. Bottom line, your money isn't going to Microsoft or an authorized reseller. Thus, illegitimate.

It's like grey market cameras. Yes, it's still a Canon, but you don't get a warranty.

You probably think G2A is a legit way to get games as well. Clearly you're pretty uninformed.

But, again, I get that kids don't always have the money for it. So. Take the gamble.

what is the difference between buying a gaming key from G2A compared to buying from any other place that sells steam keys? i mean amazon sells steam keys for lower prices then steam at times so idk why you think reselling keys is not legit. the windows key had to originate from Microsoft and or an authorized re-seller at some point so in the end Microsoft got paid at some point.

Not always. Sometimes people give you codes that are meant for an institution, so they'll work on many PCs.

It's not meant for individual use, thus they lose out on that revenue.

The reseller sometimes buys keys from cheaper sources (other countries, etc). Again, lost revenue.

I am willing pay the $100 for windows. If i was going to build a ton of machines for reviews or whatever on a youtube channel or if I was completely broke, I would go for that $20. I am not sure if I want the OEM key or the Retail one, I am worried that the Retail key will come with bloatware. (My previous computer was a Lenovo z70-80 80FG, and Lenovo ships hardware with sh*tloads of bloatware)

OEM cannot usually be transferred to another computer, it is binded to CPU and Motherboard serial number.

Retail has customer service and you can transfer to another computer, but if the OS accidently gets deleted on this PC, you have to call Microsoft

Because both the OEM and Retail come directly from Microsoft, that means they do not have bloatware, right? So I think I would rather get a retail key for my first go around, just so that I have Microsoft support to fall back on, and for transferring it in case I wreck my CPU and/or Motherboard.

Is that good thinking? Or should I just get the OEM one.
