Dual booting 8.1 and XP

Since VM seems to be inappropriate for even low-demanding gaming I want to have Windows XP installed along Windows 8.1 64-bit to be able to play TOCA Race Driver 2 one of my first and favorite games I ever played. I am new to the subject and have concerns over mainboard-operating system compability. Are the mainboards out there that support both XP BIOS and 8.1 UEFI?

You think that Windows XP is a worst operating system? Well Windows 8 and 8.1 is not Windows XP. Windows XP is a huge success for Microsoft. First try Windows ME/2000 and then use Windows XP and also check the hardware compatibility and software support then say whether it is a worst operating system or not.

I doubt it will work on Windows 8.1. TOCA Race Driver 2 has StarForce copy protection issues on this Windows 7 system, I tried removing and updating StarForce but couldn't get it to work.

Could you kindly argue somewhere else?

Sorry for double-posting by the way.

No its not possible unless you use Windows XP on another drive by booting through legacy mode. I prefer Windows XP x64 as it supports GPT style disks(not for OS install as secondary disk). All Windows XP programs will work on Windows XP x64 for sure.

I'm not arguing. The thing I posted might sound bit harsh(sorry for that if it sounded harsh) but I just wanted to say that Windows XP is a huge success for Microsoft and ruled the OS Market share for over 10 years and also said that it is not worst OS. The only Windows OSes which I feel stable are Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10.

I am going to install Windows 8.1 on an SSD with an HDD for everything else, so in theory I could just install Windows XP on the HDD and when booting up, enter UEFI, enable legacy BIOS and boot Windows XP?

That may work but because Windows XP is from 2001 it may have issues with the new hardware. You will almost certainly have driver issues.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Yep, starts with the CPU. Starting out I considered the i5-4460, I will see how a 4460-build would turn out. Otherwise I'm gonna build a second bare-bones system.

You can install both under legacy BIOS, even on the same disk if you want (just give each its own primary partition).  If you install XP first and then 8.1, the latter will automatically detect XP and install a bootloader so you can choose between the two OSes whenever you boot the PC.
