24/27 " 1440p, 144Hz monitor

Arjun_7506

I have a MSI GAMING X GTX 980 Ti. I know the specs for monitor is overkill, but I want something that will last long since I don't see myself playing above 2K, 144Hz for a pretty long time

I'm relatively new to all this, so which would you recommend?

can't wrong with any of those i've listed.

things you have to consider tho:

- Gsync. you need a nvidia GPU for this, but you already have one

- IPS, TN, VA. generally IPS has better colors, VA is the middle ground, and TN is the cheapest

The Dell S2417 seems to be the best option as it is under $400 and has G-sync. Only problem is that it has a TN panel, but reviews say it is a really good panel, so is that a worthy tradeoff?

The S2417DG is actually 165Hz. Also with Dell you get very good support.

If you want a 27" display there is this but its Freesync instead of Gsync.

That said, 1440p inside 24" has its pros and cons. For a start, its a smaller screen. Text will be smaller than what you're used to. But aliasing (jaggies) may become hard to notice, to the point you might not need AA at all.

I think G-sync would be worth that smaller text

$400 that kind of monitor is unrealistic.

That's exactly what I thought while looking at it

The Dell is quite good for that price. I think, depending on country, it's even cheaper than Freesync models.

The TN Panel doesn't make much problems, colors are pretty nice. I could set it up to look almost exactly like my older Dell U2414H  IPS Panel.

to the contrary. the Dell S2417DG is  seen as low as $399

i suggest subbing or watch that subreddit for deals on the Dell monitors, or any other 1440p 144hz monitor, because they crop up more regularly than you think
