Hey guys! So I have a Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 2x4GB kit in my system and I have this problem....when I check at the Task Manager and go to users,I am using 1.2GB of the memory but when I switch to Performance and check Memory, my Pc is using 6.3GB of RAM our of 8GB O_O which is 80% of the RAM. Is there something wrong with my RAM? Cuz its slowing my PC and causing some FPS drops :(

Well do you have a thousand and one programs/tabs open? Your computer shouldn't be taking up that much ram, even when playing (most) games.

None,I have my Chrome with usually 4-5 tabs open,Spotify and then a game.

Why do you think memory allocation is the issue?

Windows manages memory usage quite well. When not needed by users it will often allocate a good portion of memory to optimizing performance. If there is a need for the memory, Windows will reallocate it.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Run some cleaning software (CCleaner, ASC) to free up any ram that might be in use by misc programs. You could try to switch RAM slots to see if sticks/slots are ok.

Is it possible that it is broken? :/

no. your pc would not detect it/bluescreen / not display anything if it were broken.

I for one use 4-8 gigs on idle since I run 3 windows of Chrome all with over 20 tabs open and then there's my games I run in the background and forget about... I tend to do a load of stuff at once.

Check your processes tab and see what program is allocating the most memory.

LoL is kinda heavy on memory and 5 tabs in chrome can cause some major ram usage depending on the pages open.

Turn your computer off for two minutes and turn it back on, just so the memory gets a "refresh" my pc was idling at 15 gb ram usage after I installed batman arkham origins and I had to reboot to fix it.

not if it happens constantly, try figuring out what triggers it, might want to think about reloading windows since it's definitely a software error.

Reloading windows? So i need to install it again? Is there like a Fix/Reinstall function here at Windows 8.1?

I'm not all too familiar with windows 8.1 yet since I'm still running windows 7 myself, you could check if opening command prompt (CMD) as administrator and typing SFC /SCANNOW

see if that does anything, though I doubt it since I believe it's some third party unit causing this, maybe open MSConfig and disable all startup processes and startup services (tick the option to hide those that are windows services first) and see if that ends your problem, if it does gradually enable processes and services untill you find the problem again. It's quite a lot of trouble and I'd just install a fresh windows.

Edit: easier way to go about MSConfig is to just choose Diagnostic startup.

I did just that and then restarted my PC. When it booted back,it wasn't able to detect my picture password so I had to manually open it. Then when I went to the Desktop,it wasn't detecting any Audio, internet or any hardware...:(. So I switched it back to Normal again....:(

My friend was infected with a bitcoin miner.

It  was hided very good, when we tried open up taskmanager, we could find what was using all his CPU, after google searching some wierd names that was running in the "processes" we found it.

TL;DR Might be a virus taking up all your ram, and hiding as it only uses 2-5%.
