Can't decide bettween Intel's G4560 or AMD FX8350 PLZ HELP

Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

Id go with the pentium, not only is it cheaper and faster, you have a much better platform if you want to upgrade later on, much lower power usage(lower power bills), more ram capicity

A core i3 won't be any faster. A i5 won't make a big difference with that gpu, and costs much more.

Hi guys im posting this because im planing on building a new entery level pc to keep up with with the next gen and I have become very confused about my choice of CPU.

I am really struggling to decide between the following two CPUs, and when I look at benchmarks and system requirements of new pc games it makes the whole situation alot more confusing.

1.The Intel Pentium G4560 ----> Intel Kaby Lake Pentium G4560 3.5GHz

or

2. AMD FX8350 ----> AMD FX8350 with AMD Wraith Cooler

From the searching around that I have done the Intel Pentium G4560 seems to out preform the AMD FX 8350 in almost all games like in this example. ----> YouTube Benchmarking Video

(There are many other examples of data like this such as CPU Boss ect...)

With the video alone the answer seems very clear however, the reason I am so confused is that AMD FX 8350 is listed under the recomended hardware requirements of many new releases such as FarCry Primal and Battlefield1. However Intel's version of both the minimal and recomended hardware requirements are asking for something closer to an i5 or i7. ----> BattleField 1 Hardware Requirements

Can Anyone please help me out with this.

Can I really get away with buying a KabyLake Pentium CPU to run newer games? I am pairing it with a GeForce GTX 1050 OC 2GB and I don't plan on gameing in 4K or at Ultra Settings.

P.s This is my first post on Linustechtips so I apologize for all the grama, spelling and formatting mistakes.:$

Also the reason for so many links in this post is because uploading images keeps failing.:(

when are you buying ? because the 8350 is bad choice IMO due to being a dead platform (nowhere to upgrade without a whole new board) and with ryzen r5 and r3 being teased they could themselves be a great choice or lead Intel to do cost cutting.

if you need it now, i would take the Pentium as you could upgrade it to i5 or i7 in the future

I would never pick that FX CPU.

So if you want to buy right now go with that Intel, or try to look at some i3 or i5 CPUs.

But if you can wait 3 more months or so, Ryzen will release R3 and R5 lineup, which will be cheap and good performance. All that people like you (on budget) have been waiting for.

G4560 for sure, cheaper and better than the 8350. game devs tend to list them as a rough guide to what hardware you need to run the game properly, good or not. that's why you see old phenoms and nehalem i5s still being listed under minimum requirements.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W
