Friend's New PC Help

HazardVortex

My Friend wants to build a Gaming PC that can play games and edit video's for his YouTube Channel. I'm posting this because he asked me to help him with it and he doesn't have a computer nor does he now about this site. His Budget is $1000, which is 2x the budget I have for my own PC. I was thinking 16gb+ RAM, 4gb or Higher Graphics Card, No Liquid Cooling, With a Operating System, Because of this High Budget No less than 16gb of Ram since I now what kind of system you can get for even $570.

If he is going to video edit record possibly stream, I would say I7 from haswell and 16gb of ddr3 2133 or something you want, go for a 1060 6gb they are good for price to performance he can use that for quite some time psu case and other things are really just preference and i would go the extra mile for some liquid cooling if your gonna overclock, if not use your extra few bucks on some software. good day

Here's what I came up with. You can get Windows for $30 from kinguin.net so it comes to about $1030. HOWEVER, AMD's Ryzen CPUs should be launching in a few weeks, and it's highly possible that they could greatly shake up pricing of CPUs. By that, I mean that you could potentially get a comparable performing CPU to the 7700k here for $100 less, and could potentially get a 6 core 12 thread Ryzen CPU for $300. So while this build is decent, if I were you I would wait a few weeks to see what Ryzen offers.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Why would you even offer him this when RyZen is about to be released in < 2 weeks?

"Ryzen is doing really well in 1440p and 4K gaming when the applications are more graphics bound" - Dr. Lisa Su, 2017

1) Because it gives something to base his build off of once Ryzen does launch

2) I like making pcpartpicker lists :P
