Forum slow as shit

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but whenever I first come onto the forums, it takes about 15 seconds to load everything. My connection is fine and it's just for this site. 

Anyone else?

By connection is fine, how fine is it? Cause the website's pages are not exactly small compared to others.

Whenever I first log on, I go to my notifications and click on something in the recent topic section (new tab). The new tab doesn't load anything and looks like its just gonna sit there and ping out. When I click on notifications, it does the same.

what side of the planet are you connecting from? as far as i know the server is still in canada, so if you have bad luck with peering today, you have some horrible neck along the way somewhere.

Did you use Canada servers though, you see the major point here is your latency with the place of the server

or rather, if there's a node along the way somewhere that's screwing up, i had that with twitchtv 3-ish years ago

I play on canadian game servers hosted at an OVH datacenter. My ping doesn't go above 150ms.

It's probably a caching issue with your browser. I had it a while back all the time with this website and a few others.

Unfortunately, IPB software is bloated and slow due to its design, required assets, database queries, etc.   It compensates for that by relying heavily on browser and database caching, which helps speed up IPB sites considerably after the initial page load.  However, if the forum site is under heavy load or there are network connection issues between your computer and the servers, it can amplify the slowness of the first page load. 

 

IPB is solid forum software, but the one drawback with it is the initial page load.  The site can be affected as well if there is database maintenance, server backups, etc., running but those things affect all forum software, not just IPB.

Forums haven't been hosted in Canada for the past 3 years. They are hosted somewhere in US (the map in my head says its either NY or Seattle but I have no memory which).

IPB is shit forum software. And it's been going downhill since v1.3.1 final.  Matt Mecham is a nutter that only cares about profits and bloatedness  instead of  usability and speed.

Singapore here , the forum is taking more than 30 seconds to load and http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/ seems to be showing the forum being down . 

 

Doesn't seems to be my ISP or Connection since I'm trying to load the forum on my home , office and mobile data and they all have issues with it . I'm pretty sure my internet speed is normal ....

If it's being slow for you, can you post the output of https://linustechtips.com/cdn-cgi/trace (you can obfuscate your IP if you like, but please make sure the COLO and LOC fields are left)?

It looks like there are some issues with how your computer is connecting to the Cloudflare network (our CDN) - they have a datacenter in Singapore, but you have been connected to their datacenter in Hong Kong instead (and if I use a VPN to appear to be in Singapore, I get connected to the Singapore datacenter rather than any others). I'm not quite sure why that's happening, but unfortunately there's not anything we can do about that. Some people in Australia had been experiencing similar issues, but it sorted itself out after a while I think. If it does speed up, I would appreciate it if you could post that output again, so that I can see if that could have been the issue.
