Mechanical Switches Decision

Sento

i was thinking of getting a keyboard with a switch of Cherry mx Reds or Blues. Not sure what to choose. Many people are saying to choose the Reds.

Gaming lots? Go with Reds

Typing lots? Go with Blues

Doing both equally? Go with Browns

idk

Blues feel satisfying, reds are more day to day imo. My partner doesn't lile the clickyness of blues so I got reds.

No, they're just tactile and have an audible click. They are 60cN, stiffer than reds, which have a 45cN force to actuate

idk

Not black they are heavy. I just tested MX Brown and they feel nice and soft, definately quiter than my membrane

No, they just require a really small amount of extra force to push down.

As far as gaming goes, there isn't much difference, and if you ask me, most of it is placebo affect due to the audible click, especially as it reminds one they're using blues.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

red vs blue is really just about if you want a click feel when you press a button or do you want just a button that you press down without a click feel.

not really

reds are linear, meaning no feeling when pushed down - similar to membrane.

browns are same force to actuate as reds, but have a tactile bump but no sound

blues take the most force to actuate out of these three, and have a tactile bump and sound.

idk

And then there is Cherry MX Black which requires you a hammer to press the key (at least from when I test)

60cN fatigue boys

reds are 45cn, browns 45cn, blues 50cn, blacks 60cn, clears 65cn, greens 80cn

super blacks are a thing for spacebars on mx black boards, and they're 180cn

idk

they take different forces to actuate and that's surprisingly important since it makes it feel different

idk

tbh i couldn't tell the difference between all the actuating switches. they all feel the same to me.

I have a Cherrymx brown and I love them. They are quieter than blues and still have that tactile bump which I really appreciate when typing. I tried reds and I find it personally a lot harder to type accurately with imo. Blues feel really good imo but they are too loud for me, so if sound is not an issue than i suggest blues otherwise get brown.
