Political Compass

DutchTexan

The problem with this political compass is that you tend to answer based on what your government is. A neutral answer isn't really neutral. For example someone living in a more socialist/protectionist country might have a more positive view of free markets. Because they see the negative aspects of a heavily regulated market. As opposed to someone who lives in a fairly open market who might start to sympathise with protectionist slogans.

So, everyone should share, but they should just do it because they're nice and without a government enforcing it? :P

And people think communism is hard to setup... xD

Eh, not so much. Basically the "green quadrant" on this compass is for people who want government to get out of their hair but are happy to give them money so they can provide services. Which kinda explains why most people on this thread seem to be landing there. In the extreme it's basically like saying you want the government to not care about gays, guns, euthanasia, religion, abortion, military and so on. Libertarian staples. But unlike Libertarians you still want government to build roads, schools, hospitals, power networks and so on.

The only issue with that quadrant is that if the government collects all the money? They can and control what you do. So in the extreme it'd end up shifting to the top left. But then again, if you give government power? They will want to drift towards the top left. They will always try to drift towards gaining more power. Any government of any colour? Without democracy pulling on the chain it'll want to drift to the top left.

Pretty expected, but there should've been a neutral answer to some of the questions.

chart?ec=3.63&soc=-0.72

This was 4 months ago since I don't feel like taking the test again

And I do find this test to be somewhat flawed

For example

If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations.

If I don't agree with globalisation how can I honestly answer the question

Anarcho-communist?

I don't consider myself either anymore, but during my early years as a teenager (13 or so) I got affiliated to the FJC in Argentina (Federación Juvenil Comunista = Juvenile Communist Federation) which felt good for a while but I soon found out politics overall in this country are rotten, genuine good intentions are hard to find and communism/socialism just becomes a facade of solidarity to hide the real lust for power (strictly speaking about Argentina, can't share an educated opinion about foreign politics).

I don't believe in most politicians anymore, and I wouldn't bet a finger on the few I believe in.

I took it a second time and got a little more philosophical. I selected strongly agree and strongly disagree more often and ended up here:

I thought I was going to end up farther to the right, guess not...

I took another political compass test on another site and landed here.

I'm basically slightly less libertarian based on the site you chose though.

Yeah, I did the same one and it made me a centrist but still in the green quadrant. Interesting to see the point move for every answer.

I'm also kinda surprised that making religion exempt from tax was a more capitalist thing. Aren't tax exemptions and subsidies basically both just forms of market manipulation? If anything wanting churches to pay taxes or not should be on the social dimension. It's more about whether or not the government should be giving a religious organisation special treatment vs say a sports club or something.
